It's A Flash Card Program
The tricky part about the plethora of Rosetta Stones on Ebay is that for them to install correctly, or at all, it is best to find one with the original registration card that has not been used before. You may get lucky with one that has been installed in the past but that is no guarantee.
Regarding the program, the learning method is one that promises to gives grammar and sentence structure by immersion into the language without studying grammar rules, tenses, etc. That may be OK for probably most people but some of us want to know or to be able to access the grammar within the program somewhere. The first two units of the course are simply a lot of flash cards that is so basic that it is a waste to put so much time into reviewing flash cards. I am only into the third unit and wondering when all the "Trust The Method" will begin to payoff. If you want to learn at a 7th grade level this is a fine program. If you want to understand and study grammar, tenses, and sentence structure I would recommend a Transparent Language course. Read full review...

Good product, some limitations
A great product to learn a new language. The pronounciation is markedly better than that of the online language program with the owl (you know the one). The immersion method is solid.
Do know that any disk program is no longer supported by Rosetta Stone. Thus the four stars. You can install the disks on your system but they don't provide any support. Rosetta Stone has gone entirely to a fee based online system. With that you either pay monthly or pay for one person for a 'lifetime' membership. The disks allow multiple learners to use the same program which is great for family learning prior to a trip.Read full review...
