Nice cross, cheap chain

The sterling silver cross is real sterling. I love it as a symbol of my faith. The chain and fittings were disappointing. The loop connecting the cross to the chain was too small and it would pull open when the chain snagged. I replaced it with a stainless steel split ring, as found on small fishing tackle, that worked much better. After a year of wearing it full time the chain irritated my neck. It turned out to be not stainless steel chain, but was made of plated brass. The plating had worn off. I've bought a real stainless steel chain to replace it. This silver cross is just a fraction of an ounce of silver, but for the price paid I could have bought 4 big troy ounces of pure silver coins.
