Great to learn

I started playing it a few years ago to learn to play the bass. I found it very easy to pick up after a few days. The tutorials will help you break some of the habits that novice players do (and I still do from time to time.) The only drawback for the console version is you will get bored playing the same songs. The PC/MAC versions will keep you interested longer due to the the features of importing and designing your own music.

If you can't fix the buzzing through your guitar, there are many online solutions to remedy these common issues. Most seem to revolve around the calibration techniques used for your guitar.

Leaps and bounds superior to the first game!

This game is so much better than the original Rocksmith. The original is (for usage reasons) more like 2-3 stars, even though yes, the learning parts are roughly equivalent in either game. You're still playing guitar or bass along with frets and strings to guide you. It's just that this game is so much more.... friendly and inviting.

This actually feels like a single game rather than a bunch of software from a bunch of people thrown together by somebody else. The transitions between practicing parts (which are very selectable for starting and stopping points, not just the section you were on) and playing parts is almost seamless for example. Sorting songs is clear and simple and powerful. The menus are consistent, the sections easy to move to AND back from, plus there is not constant retuning over and over after every little thing.

So far, it seems Rocksmith 2014 has fixed every overly annoying thing about Rocksmith, which is like a pre-alpha version of this one. As an example of that, Master Mode gradually just fades out the fretboard, and brings it back if you have problems, rather than just doing what the first game did, giving you a big blank nothing for the entire song, with no images, no tabs, no notes and no potential to learn.

I'm sure there's something here to be annoyed with if you've never played the first one though. And for me at least, it's not worth $10 to move the original songs over to this version of the game. I'd just as soon go back and play those songs in the first game. Play them, but that's about it. If I was going to practice the songs from the first game, it might be worth $10 to practice them in this version instead.

Although there's enough here to make it rather unnecessary to need to practice any of the original on-disc songs from the first Rocksmith anyway, unless there's some you happen to like them, enough to pay $10 to get them into Rocksmith 2014 to practice. (That doesn't apply to any DLC you have, it all works in Rocksmith 2014 as is, no need to pay anything additional.)

This is the game the first one should have been.

Great game; in two weeks I have learned more than I thought possible.

I have been using this "game" for just about two weeks and already I am learning to play the Bass Guitar. I really like the learning method and the learning curve is just right. When I think the game is getting ahead of me and I start missing notes it slows down the learning curve to accommodate me. Also being able to go through sections of a song to learn them slower is very helpful.
I also enjoy both the lessons and the jam session. The lessons are even progressive within each lesson and in order of lessons. The jam sessions allow you to work on cords, scales, and thirds and fifths while playing most any kind of music style.
Overall I have been very impressed with this game. My only complaint is that in two weeks I have begun to learn over 15 different songs and I am getting quite good at 4 songs. The problem is that I still have very little knowledge of what notes I am playing, and I have no idea how I would be able to read sheet music. Otherwise a great program that when used in conjunction with self paced learning is very effective.

Remastered is WAY better!

I now have both versions of this game, the original from 2011 and the new remastered 2014 edition and let me tell you, the remastered is by far the better of the two. This version you can play either Lead, Rhythm or Bass without having to download content with cost. The songs are amazing. I love this version!Read full review...

Rocksmith Rocks

Bought this for my brother. I've got it on PC. I played for 15 years then got married. Quit playing for the 29 years. Now I wish I'd had it long ago. Might have never marrried. I've read a lot of reviews about Rocksmith and RS 2014 and there is little middle ground, people either love it or hate it. I'm a luvver. For most music instructor reviews I've read they generally don't like it(wonder why $$$$$?) except for this one guy recommended it to all his students as a learning aid.Read full review...

Can't review the disk, just the cord...

When my son opened for his birthday, we were disappointed when the game didn't play. Tried on both Xboxes. However, after ordering a new game from another seller, (Not because of seller) the cord worked perfect, and cord was worth the value.Read full review...

Great deal instead of paying for in person lessons

Really have enjoyed this game in the past and I know It will keep helping me learn. Great for playing real instruments in your home without making too much noise. Really great for apartments.

Does what it says

Great game, you definitely get a little better each day. I noticed a difference in just three. The product helps to learn the basics, helps create a foundation, and has instructional videos on how to accomplish each of the different tasks and techniques. Sometimes it can be a little unresponsive if it is not perfectly tuned. That and the lack for a "Career" mode similar to a guitar hero game etc. are the main reasons I didn't give this game a full 5 stars. It's a little tedious at times and could use some tweaking, but nothing is perfect.Read full review...

An Excellent Value

I got this for my son after he played the first Rocksmith. He loves the focus of different playing styles and the large collection of newer songs. His style of play has also improved and he really enjoys it!Read full review...
