Peace of mind protection
This surge protector has 7 outlets, which are nearly all necessary these days to power or charge the many devices a household has these days. It gives peace of mind to know that when the power goes out, (which it does often in our area even on sunny days), no damage will occur to any of our electronics.
The outlets are marked for specific items, but if this surge protector is being used for other devices, it doesn't make a difference which plug you use. They all work.

Purchased to replace a Monster Surge Protector . . .
I wanted to replace an old Monster Surge Protector and purchased this "Green" Monster Surge Protector. I did not take notice of the "Green" in the description and what needs to happen is that you put all the plugs in the corresponding outlets, (t.v. to t.v., dvd/blu-ray to dvd/blu-ray, DVR to DVR, etc.) and the television has to be turned on FIRST before all the rest will be able to be turned on. Which I am assuming means it is not a "vampire" and does not drain electricity when not in use, which is good if I am correct. My other quibble is that the colored labeling is hard to see depending on the size of the plug after inserted into the outlet. With my previous Monster, it was very easy to see each label as it was placed higher and now it is more difficult. It's not often that I have to remove a plug, but with a streaming t.v. with apps, there are times that you have to unplug to reset and/or the television that won't connect to WIFI. My previous Monster had an 8-foot cord and this has a 6-foot which meant I needed a closer outlet on the wall which I had, but I could hide it by using wall outlet farthest from the television. Not really what I wanted but good price.
I saw the colored plug ins but didn't really know what it meant. It was cheap and had a high joule number so I bought it. I had to try about 3 different plug ins before I could get my router to work. These are a great price. They seem to work very well for all of my electronics. These have a "Green Power" feature that you can toggle ON & OFF on the side of the device.
