Worked Like A Charm!
I wanted to get into home recording and knew, even as a lifelong PC guy, that Garageband was the best and most intuitive of the free programs out there. I was able to pick up a 2010 MacBook Pro for nothing but, surprise!, Garageband was not installed. Turns out there is simply no way to install Garageband without an original installation CD that corresponds with the OS on your device (I did not explore the option of copying the program from another computer onto a thumbdrive and attempting to install - I'm not optimistic about that method). So I purchased this CD as a last resort, did the install and have been happily recording ever since. I had expected to run into trouble due to Apple's onerous encryptions and intellectual property protections but the only issue is that I can't get any updated versions of Garageband. But I think that's more a limitation of my device than anything else. So it appears I'm stuck with the 2011 version of Garageband for now. Which is fine - I mean, imagine what the Beatles could have done in 1967 with something even remotely this powerful.Read full review...
