Might Recommend With Reservation

This review is entirely about the product and not the seller. I might recommend this product with serious reservations. I needed to modify the board to fit my camera. I purchased this to use with my 5X7 Traditional Canham camera with the Linhof Technika front standard. As shipped, the board would not seat properly. There is a lip/flange on this adapter that was .100 wider in diameter than the flange on a stock Technika lens board. Consequently it would not drop into the standard hole and sit flush in the mount. Because of this the standard's clamps would not hold it in place. It would have also leaked light.

Fortunately I have a machine shop and I was able to reduce the diameter of the flange and correct the problem. A different make of camera may have a wide enough tolerance for the board to fit but the Canham would not work with this board as shipped. If the hole in your front standard has a diameter less than 3.4 inches (86mm) it will not seat properly unless you modify the lens board as I did.

The second issue I had was with the cable release offset adapter. It is a clever idea and necessary to enable your cable release to work. However I needed to hunt through all of my cable releases to find one that would operate the adapter. Four of the five I had would not work. One had a plunder that was smaller in diameter than the others and would work. The issue is that the diameter of the offset arm which operates your shutter release is smaller than most cable release plungers. To make matters worse the center of the hole is slightly offset from the center of the threaded section which holds the cable release. I was fortunate in that one of my cable releases had a smaller diameter plunger than the rest and could make up for the offset and difference in diameter.

So with those reservations, I would recommend this board if you can ensure that the diameter of the hole in your front standard is at least 3.4 inches or you have the means to modify it to fit your camera. The fitment of the board is not exactly the same as a stock Technika board. Also realize you may need to hunt for a cable release that will work with the offset adapter on the board. Modified as described above it works well.
