Takes great pictures at a great price

The camera is easy to handle, easy to use and it takes great pictures. The LCD display is easy to read and navigating through the settings is a breeze. As with anything new this camera takes some getting used to if you’re not used to DLSR cameras. The battery pack lasts a good amount of time and I was able to take picture all day without having to recharge. Changing manual settings and learning the ins and outs is straight forward by using the instruction manual.

The flash card is larger than most card readers on laptops, so an external flash card reader will have to be purchased or use a cable to plug onto the camera from the USB port on the computer.

Overall a great camera for a beginner who wants to learn to take better photographs.

It's a older model but 10mp and a good lens you can get some great shots.

This is a great camera. It's light weight and fast. It's nice not having to pay full price for a 10mp camera. It has allot of features. One thing is to watch the type of off camera flashes you buy. only the "EX" models seem to work. Don't get the "EZ" models. Those are for 35mm film. I need to do more research before buying a flash. One other thing is the batteries. If they get low the camera seems to malfunction. It could be the one a have but after recharging the batteries everything operates as it should.Read full review...

Caon 400 D Rebel XTi

This is my first dslr camera, and I feel its a little difficult for a beginner. I had to contact a friend of mine that is a professional photographer to help me to understand how to use it. The instruction manuel is trash!! It assumes that you already understand how to use a camera of this type, it doesnt give you enough detail on a beginner level. This camera takes awsome photos once you get use to it. I am glad that I purchased a high quality camera that will last me for years.Read full review...

BUSY..... BUSY...... BUSY......

I gave this a 4 star review because for the price.... it's a decent camera. It's got issues.... the screen doesn't continuously display what your pointing at, it's blank most of the time. The battery doesn't last very long. And you will constantly lose shots because this little mongrel will be too "BUSY." So... good because it's cheap, but too much time with it and you'll want to upgrade.Read full review...

Oh! My Canon Rebel XTI at last... a treat from Me to Me

I needed to update from film cameras as I have a lot of research to do necessating fast image review. Have stayed away from getting seriously digital
for years, but even with my arsenal of film cameras, I have to leave the "old school" somewhat though I will never give up my Olympus OM1 and my Nikon F3HP.

I have kept up, however, with the development of models in the digital category and have seen the rave reviews for this camera. I am totally satisfied with 10 mp for the work I do. This listing also included a medium to long zoom, picking up right where the "normal" lens left off. This second lens is IS-image stabilized; what a great feature to have in a moderately long zoom lens!

I shifted to Canon because soon I will be doing a lot of videotaping and will need an advanced video camera with interchangeable lenses. Canon has the best, most affordable repertoire of equipment for seamless interchanges-meaning most of my still camera lenses will function on the video camera!!!!Wowee!!!

The seller was such a good communicator and facilitator, I wish I could have posted more rave in the feedback column. I turned the camera on and pop! up and running. The only thing I could have had to make this better, was to see an intruction manual in the box-but it was not advertised as such-Just a Christmas wish. I'll be ordering one from Adorama in NY.
I am obviously not ready yet to go into the technical details of using the camera, but am quite aware of the vastness of its capabiliyies. It is pristine condition and so, with faith, I expect it to perform flawlessly.

Canon EOS Rebel XTi 400D

The Canon EOS Rebel XTi 400D is an awesome Entry Level Digital SLR for those wanting to become serious in photography. Although it was released four years ago, it still stands its ground as a entry level DSLR.

The XTi body is comfortable to hold, although for bigger hands an addition of a battery may be needed. The 2.5 LCD is bright and is viewable in bright sunny days. Additionally, reviewing photos is pleasant on the XTi's LCD. Buttons on the body have been well placed, which allows an individual to quickly adjust exposure (shutter and aperture), ISO, White Balance, exposure metering, and focus points. This is important in for DSLR because it allows the photographer to capture images quickly without having to move through menus to get the right settings.

The photos taken by the Rebel XTi are high quality, of course this is expected of from a DSLR. The XTi has a minimum ISO of 100 and a maximum ISO of 1600, although it can go lower and higher with a customized firmware. The Rebel XTi has many customizable settings for taking photos. A photographer can set a preferred type of shooting setting under any of three user define options the XTi provides. Sharpness, Colortone, Saturation, and Contrast are options in the custom settings.

One big drawback to the XTi is that it does not have a live view feature. This maybe a turnoff for individuals moving from point and shoot cameras. Although, one can learn to shoot from the viewfinder.

Rebel XTI- The standard by which most DSLRs are judged.

This is the third generation of this ever popular 'Digital Rebel' series and it has introduced many people to the joys of digital SLR photography. Like most Canon DSLRs is easy to learn and can be a simple or as complex as the user requires. I teach photography and never hesitate in recommending this camera to my students. When you match it with the excellent range of Canon lenses, add the build quality factor and factor in Canon reliabilty ..... you can fully appreciate the value for money this 10.1 Megapixel beauty is. Enlargements up to 16x24 are possible with this camera and 8x10's are a breeze. Get one if you want to discover the benefits of SLR photography! Be careful who you buy from though (my seller was unreliable/flakey) and try to avoid well used examples - these cameras have been around for nearly 4 years now!Read full review...

Rebel XTi - Best bang for the buck.

Don't want to pay for an xxD body? Want 3200 ISO and spot focus? When looking for a DSLR, I decided on this one after extensive research. The XTI or 400D has a firmware hack which enables features found on much pricier "professional" cameras. The body is plastic and there is no live view but if you can live with these gripes you will have what amounts to a 40D. There is no second jog dial but you can still adjust aperture and shutter individually. It takes better pictures than my friend's 20D and has more features than the equally priced XS. Buy better lenses with the money you save.

Speaking of lenses; the kit lens on this camera is passable but not stellar. It beats having no lens but not by much. I would recommend skipping the "kit" and buying a body only. The new kit lens from the 1000D (Rebel XS) can be purchased separately and is much better. It also has image stabilization and believe me, you will need it. The Canon 50mm prime is also a good choice for portrait photography and is relatively inexpensive.

Bottom line: Buy it over any "rebel". By the time you wear it out 5DMKII's will be cheap... and you can keep your lenses.

This is a user friendly camera, even for the beginner.

I bought this camera to replace one that was older, and had been stolen. The features I like most is the flexibility that it offers. While not the most intuitive camera, I really appreciate the full auto feature. It allows me to take great looking photographs, while learning about the manual settings that it offers. Cosmetically, the camera looks as professional as it performs. I have only used this and 1 other EOS camera, but even a novice should find it fairly easy to use.Read full review...
