Perfect In Boat Storage for Working Spinnerbaits

This particular Plano box is made in both this 3700 Series format, and in the more compact 3600 Series, with a reduced capacity on the smaller box of about 19 baits. If you own a bass or species specific fishing boat of some brand these days, it is not uncommon to find you have at least one compartment with a rotomolded insert with side guides to securely hold about a half dozen of these stye storage boxes on their back edges with the latches facing up. This is called the PALS system, and was developed with both Plano and Flambeau storage boxes in mind as the two have nearly identically-sized product offerings. To my knowledge, however, Plano is the only brand to have offered a "flat format" storage container with interior retainers for the upper spinnerbait wires as well as a molded "U" shaped retainer to hold the head of a spinnerbait just in front of the skirt collar. If you have good quality SS wire forms on your baits, and you actually USE the baits in your working boat boxes, I don't know of a more efficient storage system for this type tackle on the water. Common sense tells me that spring pressure on spinnerbait wire forms over a VERY long time in storage with no release or movement will make the wire brittle in some area, and I do not want to see $3 worth of swivels, blades, clevises, etc. end up at the bottom of a lake because of metal fatigue. I should not have to elaborate on the quality sacrifices we have all experienced in our terminal and other tackle manufacture because of origin and the alleged higher costs to make products with the intent to last. If you intend to store spinner or buzzbaits over an unknown or extended time, get a large hanging box and use them in your garage or wherever you store your backup/bulk tackle and have physical room to do so. But, if you need to carry a few dozen choice blade baits out in your tackle locker and have them readily accessible, these are outstanding boxes and should last for years. Don't forget to add a Zee Rust prevention tab inside and or drill one small hole in the bottom center of the box for drainage and evaporation of water from wet baits.Read full review
