Bought a 2nd one for my mother
I bought this particular weather station 2 years ago and we like it so much that I bought another for my mother who lives a few hundred miles away.
Ours has been working good for the 2 years. The bright colors make it easy to see. The instructions were good and it didn't take long to set up. I did buy the Shield with Mount (925-1418) because I wanted to make sure the weather wouldn't ruin the sensor. I put lithium batteries in the outside sensor to make sure the batteries last longer and I read the lithium batteries work better when it's real cold. After 2 years we haven't had any trouble with our weather station or had to change the batteries.. My mother had an old black and gray unit and this one is quite an upgrade. Works okay
Before purchasing this, my temperature sensor has been mounted under an eave but was affected by morning sunlight heating up the surrounding area. I decided to order this item and so far, has been working well. Since it protects the sensor from direct rain, I moved it on the north wall of the house (as recommended). I can now send data to Weather Underground with accurate readings and able to pass their QC. With spring approaching soon, the sun is now setting at a slightly different angle which does shine briefly on the shield just before sunset causing a spike in the temp. My plans are to add something to side to block the direct sun. This may change come summer as it is mounted to brick and could cause a heating problem. Good outdoor sensor protection
Great outdoor case which is roomy enough to allow airflow for the sensor which fits perfectly, just the price seems a bit high. There is though no alternative so the company has the market.

Long time needed
La Crosse sensors have always had a moisture problem and only last a couple of years without protection. I'm hoping this works. But the design does make sense and it seems to be working.
