Mack cruise liner coe

Good kit to build. Only problem with this amt kit like all there Mack kits is to sand and retro fit the rear suspension that can take time and be frustrating for the rear ends to fit correctly. They don’t line up correctly at all. Which it will make the suspension uneven and make one side jacked up and uneven making it look unrealistic . Amt should have done a better job to make sure of a proper fit. Sometimes have to get the rear suspension from a mpc kit or ertl kit to complete which now you have to spend more time and money but will have a moving suspension. Modeler should be aware of this. Everything else comes together great. But that’s nice done the kit comes out looking fantastic. Still waiting for roundhouse 2 models to come out with the old mpc international cement mixer and the Mack cement mixer which in real life I use to driver. I wish also that all but rims are Crome and the Dayton rims uncrome. Daytons rims in real like are never Crome. That goes for the trailers as well. I built all of these amt, Ertl and mpc kits. Yea be been a semi truck and trailer modeler since I was 9 years old and now I’m 62 and still building them. At one time I had all semi tractor and trailers available. Yes I had a huge collection.Read full review...

Good kit overall but needs some improvements.

I normally build armor but wanted to give this AMT Mack truck a try since I work for Ryder. The parts have more flash and knockout marks then I am use to seeing. Also, AMT needs to improve on the directions. They are not very good. Parts are not shown in proper location on some assembly points. I found that the part ID on the sprue sheet was very time consuming. I think AMT needs to work on their molds for better quality and perhaps a better grade of styrene stock. I still enjoyed the kit but it needs improvement, especially with the technology with mold design and plastic technology. Read full review...

AMT has lost quality with this newer kit.

The nubs on the rear axles were missing so the wheels would NOT snap on. Many index points were missing, and instructions are vague with critical part placement. Alignment of frame members is poor so keeping frame straight is difficult. Routing the exhaust pipes and air inlet pipes requires trimming parts to obtain proper fit. The cab would not hinge with radiator in factory location, so I had to modify that also.
The included decals will not locate per illustration without significant trimming.
There are better tractor kits out there. SKIP THIS ONE!

Love this model

Great model kit . Very durable plastic and very detailed and chrome parts , even the little bull dog is realistic an detailed . I've bought two of them one new and one used and both kits are great. In fact I plan on buying another one before long. If you want a challenge and a great kit to build this is the one for you .Read full review...

I wish they still made the real Mack truck.

Great piece of American history. I had this kit as a teenager in the ‘70s.
It was one of AMT’s later releases. Nice addition to any collection.
The Cruise Liner was Mack Trucks big cabover for the Western market.
I’m happy to see the re-releasing of many of these model kits, it makes me feel like a kid again…even if they are made in China now. The original kits were made in Troy, Michigan…and I remember paying $5.00 for each of the earlier kits.

Good detail for the money

Nice kit relatively clear of flash to clean up, and also has good detail for the price.
