Writing a review of an album like this is kind of like (you should pardon me) writing a review of the Bible. You could simply say it's great, immortal and will be (deservedly) around forever.

Now that I am pushing 60 (pretty hard, I must admit) I have to confess that Bing's Merry Christmas album followed me into the world about two years later. I suppose I actually saw our original first pressing copy of this multimillion seller before the shine was off it. I grew up with it and it remains a holiday "friend". I think I knew all the songs by heart by the time I was 3 or 4 years old at the latest (even if I didn't know what all the words meant - you know how kids that age are). I am sure by now that most households in the English speaking world have been through three or four copies of the record and probably one or two more of the cd by this writing.

If somehow, you don't know the album (Martian, or other extra terrestrial) you need to get one. Otherwise when the Christmas police come to visit your house, they will know you are from another galaxy.

The album was recorded over a 10 year stretch with many of the recordings (but not all!) seeing their first light of day on 78s. All things considered, it is a nice cohesive album in spite of all the varied recording quality etc.

With Christmas coming up shortly, you should be ashamed of yourself if you don't have this album and have it committed to memory by now.

Timeless Christmas Music

This CD provides that classic Christmas feeling. Of course it has White Christmas in its original glory. The CD also has some other great classics that you will fall in love with. One of my favorite tracks that I absolutely love is Mele Kalikimaka. It means Merry Christmas in Hawaiian. The track is with the Andrew Sisters. The album features a beautiful version of Silent Night. I was surprised how well Bing Crosby still sounds today. This album is a must have for anyone who loves Christmas fan. White Christmas - the Bing Crosby 1944 Classic

If you like 40's swing, big band and the smooth sounds of the crooner, with the excitement of the Andrews sisters - all put together to sing Christmas classics, here's the record for you.

This is a CD copy of Bing Crosby's 1944 White Christmas LP. About half of the songs are traditional sacred Carols without ornamentation using orchestral arrangements such as Silent Night, Adeste Fideles, Faith of Our Fathers and others. The other half are '40s big band arrangements of secular songs such as a sweet rendition of Silver Bells with Carole Richards and high-energy arrangements such as Jingle Bells and Santa Claus is Coming to Town with the Andrew Sisters. And, of course, from the movie "Holiday Inn" and later "White Christmas" the keynote song "White Christmas".

Bing IS Christmas

Holiday Classic

A must have in any ones collection of classic Christmas music. No one does it like Bing Crosby. And White Christmas is timeless. Awesome Christmas CD

This is one of the great old classic Christmas albums from simpler times. We never let a Christmas go by without playing this one. All the songs are nice and what can you say about Bing's voice? He's one of the masters with very smooth vocal tones; he does Christmas music as well or better than many other popular singers of his time.
