Interesting historical prologue to classic rock...

I read an article that one of the original band members of Big Brother and the Holding Company living in Palm Springs, CA had passed away around Christmas, 2009. The article said how Big Brother and the Holding Company helped usher in a lot of the sound and beats of classic rock as we know it today. I wanted the CD out of curiousity after reading the article, and I found it at a deep discount. I'm very happy with the purchase. It should be in any classic rock fan's CD arsenal, as well as a little knowledge-gaining about Janis Joplin (a member of this band) and Big Brother and the Holding Company in general, sounds, beats, and rhythyms, music which was a prototype to the bands of classic rock as we know it today.Read full review...

I love Janis Joplin, and I love this CD. I bought extra copies to give as gifts. Watch for copies that have the bonus tracks, though. They are excellent too.

My first love

Unfortunately, I discovered Janis posthumously, just three weeks after her untimely death. Her energy and thirst for living in the now, typified the times in which she and I lived in the 60's. This was the first record album I bought of her, and listening to it again in the present, I realize how much more I like the album than I did then..... if that is possible.
