Sonic Death Monkey Rocks!

Based on the Nick Hornby novel of the same title, it's a pretty decent adaptation of the book. I do have some qualms about Americanizing non American books, and I enjoyed the book highly , so, I was quite adamant about seeing a film about it. Of course I still love the book, the film doesn't stray to far from Nick Hornby's novel, but it does give a different twist at the end. John Cusack brings a different light to the characters of the book and you'll especially like Jack Black as one of Rob's friends in the record shop. This was the first movie that I saw where Jack Black sang, and wow, can he sing! He gives his own rendition of Marvin Gaye's classic "Let's Get It On" towards the end of the film.

The guys at the record shop do play the part of being music snobs to a tee and John Cusack is perfect for the Americanized version of Rob. It's a great movie in itself but I do recommend reading the book too, which I found more entertaining and engaging than the movie version.Read full review...

A romantic comedy from the male perspective

As a rule, I detest romantic comedies, but this is one major exception. Not only is the story told in a witty and intelligent manner, but it's told from the guy's perspective! One of the great shortcomings of most romantic comedies is the male characters are so poorly and shallowly written that male audience members simply cannot identify with them. This is an excellent movie. Full of dry humor for anyone who has ever been in a serious relationship. The story of being in love with comfort and desiring what you can't have is well played out in this movie. Anything with any of these actors will catch my attention. Great acting on John Cusack's part. A heartbroken Record (only) store owner, his passion for romance is almost as strong as his love for records, and he really loves his records. Very funny classic Jack Black basically playing himself as the store clerk who cant tolerate white collar types buying good records, and he wont let it happen either. Fun at First and then Annoying the Rest of the Way

I could care less about any of the characters. This movie was annoying throughout, despite the lovely women in it. If you like irritating people you will love this movie.

Fun movie, great music!

I loved this movie the first time I saw it on cable and knew I had to own it. The musical references and clips are great, it definitely made me look up a few artists I hadn't heard of before and download some of their tunes. It's just a fun type of movie that anyone can relate to, male or female, if you've ever been dumped! And I love Jack Black and Jon Cusack anyway, so it was a gas to see them both in this flick.Read full review...
