One of the Best comdies ever Made!
I enjoy dry British humor, and The LadyKillers is full of dry and over the top humor. The dialog is witty and the interaction between the characters is perfect. Watching a young Peter Sellers in his first major role interacting with Herbert Lom, knowing in decades to come they'd be in films together as Inspector Clouseau and Chief Inspector Dreyfuss. This is also one of Alec Guinness's best comedic roles. The film is just a pleasure to watch!Read full review...

Good old fashioned entertainment
I bought this DVD so I could compare it to the remake that was produced in 2004 by the Cohen brothers, which is hilarious. After watching the newer version several times, I was curious to see how it compared to the original 1955 English version.
The story line is roughly similar, and there were a lot of tidbits thrown into the newer version that paid tribute to the original. Both are well worth watching. The reason I did not give it five stars is there was no closed captioning, although the box indicated it was closed captioned. Watching English movies, or more accurately, listening to English moves is a challenge, and without closed captioning, it was impossible to understand some of the dialog.

Great dark comedy with a talented set of actors!
This is a classic dark comedy. I am a Herbert Lom and Peter Sellers fan, so I can’t say enough positive reasons why I purchased a copy. The aspect ratio was set for today’s standard configurations. You will not be disappointed.Read full review...

The Old Lady Wins!
The biggest Jem in this movie is Old Lady. And she Wins because of her purity.
I like cinematography of this movie. All details of the time. Very recommended.
Love this movie, had to have it, thank you.
I don't like many movies, but this one is great. Unlike the 2004 version, this 1955 version is suitable for the entire family. That's a BIG plus!

Great movie.
Dated because of when it was made. Great none the less. I loved the remake with Tom Hanks also.

Corny Humor
A simple scenario, and a greedy mob falls apart due to an old lady! It's a classic that has that flair about it - I saw it way back when, and getting it to see a second time was fun. Alec Guinness plays well with/against Peter Sellers. It does have a British humor to it and if you don't enjoy that type of comedy - this film will not suit your entertainment style. It will not be one that gets played over and over, but was worth another look.Read full review...
