A great movie with cool extras, If your a fan, well you know what to do..

The Lord of the Rings is something special and has gone down in history that way, we all know that now. Just wanted to give thoughts on The Two Towers. In my personal oponion this is the best of the series, there are a couple of reasons but I think mainly because it is the most "people" oreinted movie of the triliogy. The love story between aragorn and Arywen is told far better than it is in the book! And is honestly very creative in terms of mortal and immortal falling in love and how aragorn will die but Arywen disregards this. Not to mention love between Eowyn and aragorn which is interesting because its really a better match but aragorn can't let go of Arywen, he just cant do it. The story of Rohan is an exceptional story and is very moving and you really get caught up in this society and feel it truly existed its just so close to home, its so belivable. Theoden unwilling bewitched by saruman the white is utterly helpless to save his son from death by the very wizard who bewitched him, and is unwilling supporting!! And Eomer, Eowyn's brother is cast out by his own father even though he and his men are the only loyal supporters of Rohan. And we cannot forget one of tolkien's greatest inventions: treebeard. Treebeard is almost an indescrible character, yes he is a talking tree, but more importantly he is like a caretaker of nature and the world. Similiar to Tom Bombadil in the sense that he is some kind of overseer and defender of middle earth as ancient as the soil, and wind and trees.Read full review...

The middle

The Two Towers is my personal favorite of the 3 LOTR movies. The extended edition extra scenes add so much to the film. The extended version of The Two Towers adds 43 minutes to the theatrical version's 179-minute running time, and there are valuable additions to the film.

The movie picks up where "Fellowship" left off: Merry and Pippin have been captured by Uruk-hai, and Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli are pursuing them. But they are sidetracked by an old friend: Gandalf, returned in a new form and with new powers, as Gandalf the White. He takes them to the kingdom of Rohan, whose king is bewitched by the evil Saruman. They barricade the people of Rohan in the fortress of Helm's Deep, for a final defiant stand against an army of Uruk-hai.

Sam and Frodo have left, to venture into Mordor alone so that Frodo can destroy the Ring in Mordor's Mount Doom. When the two hobbits become lost in Emyn Muil, Frodo realizes that someone is following them: Gollum, the tormented, twisted former owner of the Ring. They capture Gollum, who swears to serve "the master of the Precious." But even Gollum's shaky allegiance isn't enough for them to succeed, because the Ring has started to bend Frodo to its will.

This movie is much darker than the first and the third (almost like an Empire Strikes Back) and is the perfect preparation for The Return of the King.

Riders of Rohan!

What is so brilliant about this film -- probably the one which benefits the most from the additional scenes -- is how the overall story of the War of the Ring gets swept into the background of what would otherwise be an excellent stand-alone historical drama.

Another high point for Peter Jackson's trilogy is the music. The theme from Rohan is dramatically different, and yet thematically in-line with the rest of the trilogy (particularly the Shire). If one hadn't taken the time to notice the music in the first film, it adds weight to an already rich and diverse soundtrack.

About the only theme I find quite as moving is the lighting of the Beacons of Amon-Din.

Again, awesome special features, a rich and rewarding experience and worth the wait if you are upgrading to Blu-Ray.

2 Towers OUTSTANDING!!! especially - EXNTENDED version

For those who have not yet seen this movie, it is the 2nd of the Lord of the Rings trilogy and is OUTSTANDING!....After Froto and Sam separate from the rest of the group/fellowship, they continue on their journey where they meet-up with Smeagol, the mysterious and sneaky golom....The main group of Aragorn, the elf and the dwarf meet-up with an old dear friend who is a most welcome surprise. The COMBAT scenes are EXCELLENT and are longer and much more frequent than the 1st movie (Fellowship of the Ring) - Toward the end of the movie, the fighting at the Siege of Helm's Deep (fortress) is SUPERB and most intense....................I purchased the SPECIAL EXTENDED EDITION which is what I would STRONGLY recommend to those fans of this trilogy. If you have never seen this Extended Edition, I would strongly urge you to purchase this as there are a total of 15 new scenes and 19 extended scenes added to this version which significantly add on to the overall length of the movie and actually provides much more detailed information which makes the movie flow much smoother and makes things about the plot much more clearer and interesting as things come together better with these new and extended scenes. You won't be disappointed!Read full review...

A much richer story.

At first I bought the original single dvd's, however I remember reading these books when I was younger. My daughter also read them. When we complained that something was missing from the story, my husband was confused as he had never read the books. We invested in the extended 4 disc platinum series for all three movies. One of the discs was corrupted in our first set, so we purchased another. All the missing answers for my husband were answered by watching the extended version. Also, the price was so reasonable compared to when they originally came out, I couldn't pass it up. The single dvds are o.k., but for a better understanding of the story and characters I highly recommend the extended platinum series. It is definitely worth having!Read full review...

If you haven't seen it, you should!

A must-have for your dvd collection! Part 2 of a 3 part series, great for those who've only read the books. Normally the book is better than the movie. . . I don't think you're going to find a movie as good as the book like this collection!!Read full review...

THE LORD OF THE RINGS

When this movie was first released, people tried to compare it to Harry Potter. The only thing similar between the two is that they are fantasy novels. Both are excellent films, but LOTR is much more mature and dark. Excellently acted, written and directed. Spectacular special effects and settings make this film believable. But don’t watch it unless you are ready to invest yourself, the story takes off quickly and similarity in names of people and places become easily confused. Well worth the time spent, and excellent book to film adaptation. The films couldn’t have been better.Read full review...

Two Towers extended version is better

I am a huge Tolkien fan and if I’m going to watch Lord of the rings it has to be the extended version it just completes the story and is more to Tolkien’s novels. Plus this movie is my favorite out of the trilogy and is a great product.Read full review...
