Dear Heather, a review

Before I purchased this CD I read a number of critical reviews on the web. I got from reading these reviews that this was not a popular album with the professional reviewers. I couldn't wait to hear the CD myself as bad reviews of a work produced by someone who routinely generates superb work always interests me as it usually means that something new is afoot. I was correct. This album is very "zen" and if you have a publication deadline at hand, please don't bother with this collection. Listen to this work when you are collected and can let go of the bustle. Put the album on repeat as the whole thing will be over before you realize it. That is all I can say except to remind the listener who's craft is working here. LC is a master at his craft. If you cannot stand this album, shift your position until it soothes. You may find that letting go of being right personally beneficial.
If you want your butt kicked by LC's verbal imagery, get "The Future" not "Dear Heather".Read full review...

Cohen misses on this one.

Not one of my favorite Cohen albums. More poetry than music, and much of the poetry isn't even his (though it's probably better than his!). But the music aspect is pretty much completely missing.

Dear Heather is a brilliant masterpiece that may take some getting used to by some. The title track floored me with Leonard's amazing genius when I first heard it.
