It's Awesome Sauce

Great game, I had to replace a damaged Jade Empire Disk I had with a new game disk, I missed playing it, plus I wanted to see if I could still defeat Sun Li the Glorious Strategist in 1 on 1 combat, I see I still haven't lost my touch, though it's still a good challenge & I also helped the orphans that died in the flood of Tien's landing, I've almost forgotten how fun it was to play. the game was in perfect condition among receiving it.Read full review...

Overall ok. Based on EBay’s “Good” category it’s indeed good. That said I personally found it a bit disingenuous to receive the game to find the case

Jade Empire (Review by Lobo)

Jade Empire is an awesome game it is a mixture of RPG, Fighting, & adventure.

you play as one of 6 Characters (7 if you have the Limited Edition) and start off in the practice ring of your school where you are nearing the end of your martial arts training. almost fluid fighting and speech.

there are several styles of combat to choose from ranging from leaping tiger where you attack & sefend with steel claws to maribell a musket loading gun with a powerfull but slow fire rate & fortunes favorite a speedy longsword which has the ablity to decapitate your opponent.

superb graphicsmake this game one of the best on the market, & along with combat styles, speech, & the ability to choose if you will be good or evil makes this game one of the most enjoyable games i have played, the path choices also make the replay value enjoyable also.

i have actualy had to buy a second Jade Empire game because my first one burned out i played it so much so this has Lobo's seal of approval written all over it

If only M$ had exclusives like this now!

Jade Empire was way ahead of its time and Bioware was coming into their own. I loved Knights of the Old Republic so I knew the quality Bioware was capable of and Jade Empire delivered on all fronts! If you've never played this game then you need to do yourself a favor and check it out. It's bittersweet because Bioware used to be an amazing developer but now they are just a shadow of their former selves!Read full review...

Excellent Game...

I bought Jade Empire solely because it was made by Bioware (who did the first Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic RPG) I enjoyed that game so much and I had seen some screen shots to Jade, that I had to buy it.

I was glad I did. At first, the character creation seemed a little simplistic compared to KOTOR I and the combat system was a little alien (real-time with a decent amount of control...sorta like Tekken 5: Devil within mini-game) but I soon loved it and I have a hard time going back to KOTOR's turn based system after I could fight over a dozen opponents in Jade and rely more on reflexes and strategy than my AC and how quickly I could heal. It captures the Good/Evil aspect of KOTOR quite well and allows for repeat play.

Pros: There are some big levels and it is pretty well fleshed out. The graphics are amazing and there are some really funny characters in it. The fighting styles are very different and the character advancement allows you to play the kind of character you want, from a lighting fast kung-fu god to a shape-changing oriental wizard to a powerhouse weapon master or any combination you can imagine. The romance sub-plot is interesting and 'current' as well. You can have a male-female, female-female, male-male, or male-female-female relationship in the game if you play your cards right (and that last one is a little tricky)

Cons: Remember what I said about the big levels? Some are a little too big...it seemed like I was going on forever to fill in the sub-plots. Plus, the first 4 levels get bigger with each one, but the last 3 seem to fly by. Another complaint is not about the game, but the strategy guide...it really misses a lot of good/evil options and it's opinions on different magic and fighting styles in way off. Things they said sucked were the best forms of magic or fighting I found in the game. I guess it depends on your style.

I really loved the game and was glad I bought it. spend a few dollars more and get the special edition with the extra character (a monk) and weapon. it's worth it if you want to replay. If you like SW: KOTOR I & II or Martial Arts RPGs, you will love it too.

Summary of Jade Empire in a Nutshell

I purchase this game because its an old Classic, Its date back in a fictional China, just like How Fable is suppose to be a Fictional version of Briton, There is many Creatures and enemies to battle each with there own style and tactics which makes you stand in attention even if you got like the best style because if your group in a corner or surrounded then that is your behind, I told you so in advanced. There is many styles and magics to choose from but for me Personally its between Legendary Strike and Thousand cuts, with these you don't need to keep pressing attack buttons, all you need to do is tap x twice, give it a little breathing room, just a little and tab x twice again there, they are finish, later in the Game you will be having different forms, the most powerful is Stone Golem, I just chow down people like it was barbecue chicken on Sunday plus he is immune to magics and poison effects which is excellent for MULTIPLE DESTRUCTION!!!
There is also Support styles, I don't pay no mind really to them but Storm Dragon is the strongest but when you go to the Tournament in the Imperial City You will need it....literally, I use paralyzing palms cause it stuns them then switch to Legendary strike or thousand cuts, then rinse and repeat, for magic its hard to be honest, but its gotta be between Stone Immortal and Dire Flame, I personally like stone Immortal better because it petrifies your opponents to a tree which give you time to collect yourself and regroup, Dire Flame is cool to because it for ULTIMATE DESTRUCTION burning people to a crisp......which is cool... I never tried White Demon so( and I wish I did)I don't know about it but what I heard is that its the strongest style but slowest so yea...I am sticking with Legendary Strike for the time being. Story is basic and cool, People is aight, I just wish all my companions can help me out instead of one, LIKE THE WARRIORS!!! But he still decent, the flaws is that you can't have a house, kids, or even sex, there is a kissing seen near the end with the girl companion you been trying to pimp out to but that is about it. Also there is not that much replay value when it goes to the surrounding era's you will probably playing it again though just because you want to see the different out comes and styles and stuff but not that much, man I wish you can own at least a fish shop or something come on!!! But if you want to live in a game of Old Fantasy China then this game I would recommend picking up even till this date, heck that is why I got it in the first place and I am a REAL GAMER!!!! Thanks again Bioware for this great fantasy that I can relieve again.

Good visuals, Clunky combat system

The world of Jade Empire for the xbox is set in Asian setting. There are giant monsters that need defeating, and people who are too incompetent to do things for themselves. There are numerous side quests in the game. Much like "Knight of the Old Republic" you can be either good or evil. Venturing down one of these paths often involves picking responses from various options during conversation trees between characters. Being good or evil will change your appearance, gives you special powers, as well as allow you to participate in specific quests later-on in the game..... The game falls short of perfection, however. The combat system is clunky, performing a series of pre-recorded moves during combat feels artificial. There are some issues with gameplay balance. As some skills/powers are infinitely more useful than others. Also, the game's story is not very memorable.Read full review...

Excellent Game!

I REALLY enjoyed playing this game. This is one of those games I could (and did) stay up all night and day playing. I've completed it once already with the Open Palm ending, which I liked, although I felt there could've been more to the cinema ending of it. There are other endings for it as well, which I plan on achieving. This is one of those game that I could have with playing repeatedly. In my own opinion, anyone who enjoys martial-style Single-Player Role-Playing Games with multiple endings to them should definitely at least try this game out.

P.S.
I completed this game on an Xbox360, and the only bad points I noticed were the loading times and a few laggy points in the game. The lag wasn't bad, but it was there a few, very few, times in the game. The loading times can seem to take forever for the impatient player. I would say that the longest loading times were roughly 30-50 seconds long. I can't particularly remember how long they took, though, as it's been long enough since I played the game that I forgot the exact length of time taken. The way I see it, some games just take awhile longer to load than others. I think Jade Empire: Limited Edition is definitely an awesome game, though.

Jade Empire: Limited Edition (Xbox)

I bought Jade Empire after renting it one day and being blown away by the stunning graphics and gameplay. The game plays like KOTOR, for all you Star Wars fans, and has a lot of great effects and an awsome story line. The best thing about Jade Empire is that it has a lot of replay value and can be played over and over with the many characters and choices available for game play. I also purchased the special edition due to the added extras it provided. All in all this game is a must for any gamer's collection.Read full review...

Perfect marriage of action and RPG

Simply put, this is one of the few must own titles in the XBox library. This is honestly the only game besides Halo 2 that I feel worthy of still playing on the XBox 360. The story is excellent. There are enough RPG elements to satisfy hardcore fans. The combat system is real time, a wonderful change over the typical turn based fighting in run of the mill role playing games. If you are a fan of any Bioware titles, namely the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic series, Jade Empire is a must. It is the crowning jewel in the company history. If you have never played a Bioware title, Jade Empire is the perfect place to start. I finished this game in its original version. Now, after buying a 360, I could not resist buying the Limited Edition to play through again. Don't get me wrong, I am not a hard core gamer and rarely feel the urge to finish games. This is the only game I have wanted to complete a second time since Bionic Commando on the NES. Go figure...Read full review...

If you like RPG games, you should give this a try

Let me start off by saying this is a fun game. Multiple characters, and different endings. You can choose to be a good guy and help everyone or you can be evil and just kill mostly everyone that you are asked to help.

Graphic in the game looks nice, but some character models look better than others. Maybe because I played this game after Ninja Gaiden Black, the graphic only looks medicore. 7/10

Gameplay is the most important part of any game. In Jade Empire, when you are not in combat you usually walk around town talking to people and doing quests. All the converstaions are voice acted. There are lots of side quests that gives you silver, items, or boost your good or evil side. Combats are somewhat slow paced, again maybe because I played NGB before this game, and not very responsive. Throughout the game, you learn maybe different styles which includes hand to hand combat, weapons, magic, and transformation. There's also airplane shooting minigames between levels. 8/10

This games takes quite some time to load between areas.

I would give this game an overall of 8 out of 10.

Since this game can be eaily find for under $20, everyone that likes RPGs should buy it and give it a try.
