A great games for Star Wars Fans of all ages.

First off, I would have rated this game as excellent if I had only played it and not the sequel. In many ways the sequel is better in terms of gameplay, cinematics, and level design, but that's more of a complement to Traveler's Tales than anything negative.

Lego Star Wars follows the events of Star Wars from episodes 1 - 3, but from a Lego perspective. The levels are broken down by episode, with 17 in all. As your character progresses through the levels you unlock more playable characters, and you all earn money (studs) so when it's all said and done you can have around 80 playable characters, including Darth Maul, Chewbacca, General Grevious (very cool) and even young Boba Fett (rockets not included).

The great thing about this game is that it is designed for kids to play. There is no gratuitous violence, blood or anything that a gaming parent would find objectionable for their kids. I played this with my 3 year old son and with little help from me he was able to cruise through all 17 levels in about 6 hours total. The controls for this game are very easy to grasp and there isn't much of a learning curve.

The only real drawback to the game is some of the levels are very challenging for little kids and not easy to pass without help. This problem was addressed and fixed in the sequel, and will be fixed in the anthology version coming soon to a PS3 or Xbox 360 near you.

One of the coolest things about this game is you can used your saved data and load all your characters into the sequel. Now you can have Darth Maul fight Bespin Han Solo or any other match-up you can think of.

If you're looking for a fun game to play for you or your kids, this is a winner, but do yourself a favor and get the sequel as well!

LEGO Star Wars video game

I bought this game for my 5 and 6 year-old grandsons to play when they visited. I figured they'd just have fun moving the little characters around. Much to my surprise they have quickly learned how to obtain points, how to use "the force," how to change characters to accomplish tasks, and to move from one level to the next. One step builds onto another. BUT don't let the word "LEGO" fool you. My sons and husband also love playing this game with the boys. I would highly recommend this game for family fun. I think 5 years old is about the youngest to really be able to play the game and advance to various levels. I discovered that my 4 year-old grandchildren wanted to try it but just lacked the coordination to successfully maneuver the controls or to grasp the concept of the game. A good buy.Read full review...

FUN and cute graphics!

This game is fun and has some great graphics and funny Lego elements (like when a character dies, the blocks all fall apart). What I did not like about it is that this particular game uses the old style blue disc, in the cd format, like all the original Playstation games used (not many PS2 games use this format anymore). Anyway, I had to go online and find a patch (taping the inside of the disc to make it sit higher in the PS2 machine) in order to get it to play on my original PS2. The game really is great, lots of fun stoyline elements, great character interaction and cute graphics. It is a good addition to any Star Wars fan's PS2 game collection.Read full review...

LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game (PS2)

This is an addicting game. There is no game over, making it easy to just keep on playing and lose track of time.

The game follows the storyline of Episodes 1-3. You can play as many different characters from Obi Won Kenobi to a Security Droid to R2-D2. Each character has different characteristics making them a better choice in certain situations.

Children of all ages can get into this one. Parents of little ones can rest easy; there's no blood, guts or gore.

LEGO Star Wars!!! Nuff said!!!

Well I never thought I'd see the day. What's next? Batman, Spiderman, Harry Potter. Who knows? Who cares? This is where the franchising begins. Lego's track record on games is not so good but this one is better than all the other because let's face it, it's Star Wars. The game is fun. Using the force should be more fun. Running should be faster. Jumping should be higher. Controls should be better. Playing alone can be a real drag and quite tedious at times collection LEGO pieces and smashing stuff into little LEGO pieces. Although it is a nice touch, having to smash everything is repetitive. But at least you get to play through the first 3 movies and it is a really fun game. Would have been great to see online play as well. Graphics are decent but it doesn't take a long time to play through and how many times will you really want to play again without a partner? Great game to play with kids though. Rent before you buy. 3.5/5Read full review...

Fun for everyone!

Kids love playing a game that lets you spawn (when you die your character comes back). Great for video game beginners, but game play is interesting enough for advanced players too. Bought it for the kids but I secretly play it at night when they are in bed! Shhhh......Read full review...

Excellent ! Best 2 player game I've seen!

This is a fun, lighthearted almost tongue-in-cheek take on the StarWars Trilogies. If you enjoy the Lego movies at Lego.com, you will get a kick out of the humor in this game. The fact that the characters are Lego figures instead of being human emulations really tones down the violence (your kids probably do worse with their own legos or action figures!).

This game had easy game control (easy enough for both my six year old and my non-gamer first-time use of the controller), but combined it well with good challenges (enough to satisfy the 9 year old family gamer - although, perhaps, a teenager might expect full use of the controller).

The very, very best part of this game is that it is a legitimate two player game with drop-in/drop-out capabilities. This is by far the best two player game that I have seen - not a split screen, not a turn taking, nor network, but legitimately two player!!!

We've had this game for months and still have puzzles to solve even though the kids completed all levels. [BTW we also have Lego Star Wars 2 - the Original Trilogy and this review applies to that game as well - there are some differences in the actually game play that really make them two different games, not just two different stories - and they are both good - the kids would play for as long as we would let them].

Oh, and it doesn't make me motion sick.

The force is strong in this one!

I first saw this game on Xplay and I said to my brother, "That looks cool, lets rent it!"

So we did. And we played it. It was really fun. Some of the puzzles were challenging.. But we got stuck. A lot. Even the online guides weren't much help.

As fox said, it has all the episodes into one game, which is cool. And if you've seen the movies you can say "HEY! I remeber that part!" Which is cool.

Even if your not a Star Wars fan, you can still enjoy this game.

Personally, I wasn't too fond of the movies. I've only seen like 2 of them.

It's a good game to play with your little brother who's always pestering you to play something with him :P

It is a fun game to play, if you like Star Wars: Legos, you'll enjoy this game very much!

I find playing this game just fun, nothing graphic, which is good, the Star Wars universe is well represented here. I play it almost every day. It's just fun, a few times, you have to think to solve certain levels, but it's all good fun.Read full review...

LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game

With the release of the new Skywalker Saga game, I thought that I should probably start with the first game as my entry into the series. I definitely made the right choice!

The game looks great and feels amazing to play. The sheer amount of content given to you is quite staggering given how games are shipped nowadays. There are many fun things to unlock and lots of collectibles to hunt down. This game simply oozes love from the developers and it shows greatly in every aspect.

If you are looking for a high-quality game with lots of value, I highly suggest you give this game a try. It is simply superb.
