Ever want to blow up buffalo with dynamite?

I had high hopes when I bought picked up this game and I was not disappointed. Gun is a story of corruption and murder set in the old west. We are talking shoot outs, whore houses, buffalos, indians, combat on horse back. Lots of fun stuff. There is alot of plot to this game which is basically a revenge tale. You can do so much stuff in this game that you've been wanting to for years. An example I found amusing is the fact that you can take an arrow attached to a stick of dynamite and shoot it at a person and when it explodes there are limbs scattered everywhere with tons of blood. It's not voilent, it's just realistic. I wouldn't give it a great rating for the simple fact that it is a short game. Although there are alot of side missions the game is beat pretty quickly. I can't wait for the sequel.Read full review...

Great western!!!

After 'Red Dead Revolver' I wondered what would be the next great western game. "GUN" was it and the only option for a western on the Cube. The story is pretty typical spaghetti western with a "National Treasure" twist. There is not much to do in the game once you have beaten it but the ride to the end is a lot of fun. Controls are great. Cinematics not too bad. Dialogue is not so great but Thomas Jane does voice the main character. I absolutely love the horseback riding. The horses control as if you were really riding a horse. No multiplayer really made me sad. In 'Red Dead Revolver' they at least had multiplayer but "GUN" is a solo job. Probably not much more than a rental for most people. 3.5/5Read full review...

Pretty and Fun, But Short and Easy

Let's start with the positives: Gun is a very pretty game, with lots of great scenery and attention to detail. It is also easy to learn and a lot of fun to play.

However, the game has a few problems. First, it is one of those games that you can breeze through the entire thing only dying a few times, but at the end the "boss" is extremely difficult and takes many tries to finally defeat. Second, it's extremely short - even playing all the side missions it does not provide a very long playing experience. Also, it is completely linear. You go from a to b to c without ever making a decision or having to alter your strategy. Nothing affects the storyline, so you merely hop from one movie to the next.

All in all, I would suggest renting the game for $6 rather than buying it for $50. I finished with it in two days of semi-serious play, and still had five days left over before i needed to return it.

It's a pretty game, and entertaining while you're playing it, but in the end it doesn't really seem worth the money.

Gun review

A much overlooked gem of its generation. It’s relatively short but there’s plenty of fun side missions to lengthen it, as well as poker tournaments in the various towns saloons. The story could be straight out of a 70’s Clint Eastwood movie. You’re traveling around the southwest on horseback, gunfighting and blowing up bridges and escorting wagons through hostile territory and things like that. It’s certainly dated, but if you like GameCube games and old school westerns you can’t go wrong. Read full review...

A very good shooting game for the GameCube.

Gun for the GameCube was basically what I was expecting it to be like, based on commercials that I had seen for it. Once you get through the training stuff in the beginning (which is somewhat necessary), it really is a fun game. You can play missions and increase money and status, but you can also just roam around and pick fights or just simply shoot people! This of course upsets the townspeople and they try to shoot you too! If you are looking for a shoot 'em up western version of the GTA series of games, this is not quite it, but it is close. Instead of getting in and out of cars in between shooting rampages, you can get on and off of horses! For the price, it is definitely worth checking out for the GameCube.Read full review...

Gun Wild West Shooter

I like the theme of the wild west. I like "shoot um up" games. I like to pick my ability level and make it harder as I get better at the game. I picked this game because my son has it and he has always been right on for what I would like and could handle in a game.I rated it as good only because the graphics are not as good of quality as other video games I've played on game cube.Over all I'm pleased with the game so far. I have only played it for a short amount of time.Read full review...

Gun - from a Christian perspective

The video game "gun" is designed for a mature audience. The actual operations of the game are very simple and it is reasonably easy to figure out how to complete each task with some trial and error, luck, and common sense. The content, language, gore, and sexual content is definitely for a late teen or adult. There were a few times in which I found myself a bit embarrassed by the language as a Christian and there are depictions of men having sex with prostitutes as the "hero" clears a hotel of bad guys. You can see the men "thrusting" down into a prostitute at one point. The killing action with a knife or close range gunshot is also a bit graphic. I was a bit embarrassed when my preschool age son started to repeat some of the language. Overall, I think the game goes overboard into the sex and violence, and I don't think I would have purchased the game had I known how graphic the depictions of sex and violence are.Read full review...

A worthy effort, but could be better

Westerns are rare in the first person shooter genre, as are games with good story lines. This one is a good western with a good storyline. It is compelling and fun. The side missions get repetitive and the game has almost no replay value (after you finish the game, there really is nothing more to do except ride around a kill people). Unique and worth the play, but could have been better.Read full review...

Good Game with no replay value.

The old west, one of my favorite settings. I missed the chance to play the game the first time and decided to give it a shot after playing the masterpiece that is Red Dead Redemption from Rockstar Games. The game plays very well and the story is pretty good, the only problem i have is how short the game is and the small open world it has. My other main issue is that after beating the story and all sidequest there's nothing left to do. Certain gamers who can look past the issues would enjoy this title. I'm one of them.Read full review...
