A Fine time

Mario Party 7 is basically Mario Party 6 but not as fun. The boards are mostly good with standouts like Pagoda Peak and Neon Heights and one terrible board in bowser's enchanted inferno. They do away with chance time instead making duel game rewards be placed on a spinner. Bowser minigames are to long and to punishing. Solid minigames and good amount of side content make it an enjoyable experience even if it isnt the best in the series.Read full review...

A High Price to Pay for Nostalgia

Quality Gamecube title that leads to hours of fun as well as hours of nostalgia for anyone who grew up with it. Despite having said that, the game currently costs roughly the same price it did when it came out 16 years ago, which is ridiculous. Unless you have pure nostalgia for this title, do not pick it up for 60 dollars. Read full review...

Mario Party 7 Review

Now in its seventh year, Nintendo's Mario Party series has found itself locked in to the sort of annual rhythm usually reserved for sports game. The core formula never changes, but you can always expect a new conceptual gimmick, some minor gameplay tweaks, and a fresh batch of minigames. And this remains the case with Mario Party 7. It's not dramatically different from Mario Party 6 or, frankly, any of the other Mario Party games, but as a cheery collection of simple pick-up-and-play minigames that's well suited for younger and more-casual players, it still works.

They should really just start calling it Mario Theme Party. Last year saw Mario and company partying with celestial bodies, but this year things are a little less high concept: Mario needs a vacation, so he grabs all his buddies and takes them on a cruise. Curiously, Mario brings Wario and Waluigi along for the ride...but not Bowser, who is rather incensed at the snubbing. So, naturally, Bowser sets out to ruin the fun for everyone else.

That "fun," of course, involves loads and loads of minigames that have been couched in a board-game format. The inclusion of the Nintendo GameCube Mic marked the most significant addition to last year's Mario Party, which returns in Mario Party 7, and remains a fun little novelty. More importantly, Mario Party 7 introduces a dozen or so eight-player minigames. And since there are only four controller ports on the GameCube, players have to work in teams of two, each person holding one side of a controller. These minigames only ever require the use of an analog stick and a shoulder trigger, though the simplicity of the controls belies the challenge of having to cooperate on an almost intimate level with another player.

There are 86 minigames in all, and though there are more than a few "mirror" games (where the rules of a particular game have simply been reversed), as well as slightly revamped minigames from past Mario Parties, it's actually kind of surprising how Hudson has managed to maintain a relatively consistent level of quality with its minigames after all these years. The actual depth and complexity of the minigames, however, is a bit broader, though most only require you to use the analog stick, a single button, or a combination of the two. A lot of them are simple action games--drive a race car around a dirt track, navigate an inner tube down a serpentine river, pop balloons with a helicopter, and so on. Others are a bit more cerebral, requiring you to quickly match sets of images or play Simon-style color-matching games. Though there is a mode that lets you cut and paste the board-game stuff so you can go straight to the minigames, the minigames really do benefit from the context.

As mentioned earlier, Bowser is rather steamed about all this party business, which figures in to the game with the addition of "Bowser time." In the standard, four-player party format, there's a Bowser-shaped meter that slowly fills up after each full rotation of turns. Once filled, Bowser will do something nasty, such as steal coins, stars, or times--or he'll possibly force you to purchase worthless items from him. It ultimately adds more weight to the already heavy role that luck plays in the game, and as an aside, it makes Bowser seem more petty than actually evil.

Buy this game!!

This is WAY better than Mario Party 2. Each board has a unique set of rules that adds variety to the game instead of the boring "20 coins for a star in a set location" rule over and over again. Even without the microphone feature it's a blast. And the game controls are great and fair, meaning the person with the most skill in mini-games is most likely to win, however the dynamics of each world are so unpredictable that you never know what will happen and anybody can win. And so many characters! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I wish there were more worlds. There's only a handful.Read full review...

Great, but nothing special.

Mario and his friends hop on a boat to travel the world and have fun: via landmark based Mario Party boards.

It's definitely fun and worth getting if you haven't played a Mario Party game since it's Nintendo 64 days and are thinking of picking one up, but if you already have a Gamecube version of the game, this one's nothing special. It's cute and it has a lot of minigames (and the mic feature is neat, too!) that range from easy to almost too complex for even me to understand.

If you've got a a couple of friends (or kids) and a GameCube sitting around you want to put to use, I'd recommend this game, but I'd try to find on ebay; some stores and sites still cost over and beyond the full price that this item is actually worth.

Mario Party 7 Gamecube Bundle = Great Deal !

I picked up the Gamecube with mario party 7 for $99.99 at toys r us. It came with an extra controller. When you figure the controller is $20 new and the game retails for $50, you are getting the console for $30. That's a great deal ! If you have yet to enjoy the gamecube, you will find many classic titles for $20, such as metroid prime 1 and 2, Zelda windwaker, mario golf, animal crossings, just to name a few.

You will have to figure that you will need to spend an additional $20 or $30 on a memory card (I recommend the $30, well worth it for the extra space you receive), but it's still a deal.

Mario Party 7 is filled with 85 mini games. It's basically a board game, but it's far from boring, especially if you regularly play video games with 2-4 players. It's competitive, it's fun, it's a surefire recipe for excitement.

Some of the mini games are easy, some are difficult, but there is a bit of fun for everyone in this classic series.

My only complaint is sometimes the bowser sequences take a bit long to play out, and are repetitive, but that's about 2% of the total gameplay.

This is the best bang for your buck for any console at the moment.

Fun Game, especially with other People, and Children

I always loved Mario Party. I grew up playing it with my friends. It was the best for Nintendo 64, so I got it for the Wii...bad idea.
I needed a game to play on the Wii, & decided to wait for it to come out on the shopping channel, still no luck
Then I came across this. I was so happy I decided to get this game.
My wii Mario Party sucked, but this one did not
It is called Mario Party, so it is best played with more than one person. The more people, the better. It is more fun when there are all people, & no computers.
Of course, there is the chance part of the game, but when there Are multiple people playing this game, it makes it fun. I'm 20, & I like playing this game, so as long as there are a few people playing, anyone can enjoy it.
Children will love it. It's a fun game to play with your friends. Up to 8 people can play, so no sitting around waiting to take turns.
I haven't used the mic part yet, so there are no feedbacks for that, but my 3-yr-old cousin actually plays it with me. She usually has a short attention span when it comes to games "can you change it?" "Let's play something else" "Ok, another Game" But with this one, since even she can win games (without me letting her) she likes it more.
This is a very fun game... if you have friends or family. I stress the multiplayer part, because if you play alone, you will grow bored of it.
Mario Party is just like all of the others, but they change the game up a bit. You will find the same things you did in many of the other games, but introduced in a different way.
It is still a great game.
Bowser seemed kind of childish(You didn't invite me on your cruise, I'm hurt, now I'll get you back)
but he needs to be in the game, or there's no twist or villain.
This is a good overall game. If you're playing Mario Party for the first time, read reviews & more reviews, then get together your gamers, & have fun.
Remember, the more people you play with, the more fun the game gets. No computer = more fun. One person = fun, but quick boredom. There's something about having a real person to compete with that makes playing more fun..Not to mention the fact that you are spending time with, & laughing at each other.
Just make sure that if you get this game, & you want to play it over & over again, that you have someone to play it with. If you want to get your money's worth, find someone.
Kids will always want to play with you, so hey, even the little ones can play & have fun.
This game works on Gamecube, and the Wii.
I stress the extra people, because there is no new plot.
Same board game design, same hitting the die, same play minigames after turns, same most stars win, so once you beat the actual game, there's nothing to do by yourself. It's a Party Game, so The more the merrier.
(That is the MOST important part of the game, the fun! & the extra People.)
This is recommended for all ages, there is nothing that you would find scary for little children. Bowser is a funny looking villain, not scary, so no nightmares there.
If you don't have someone else to play with, this game will be fun until you beat it.
If you have someone to play with, this game will be fun always!
Hey, I play this game so much because of the fun I have playing with my Friends & Family. It is a GROUP game, NOT a SOLO game, though you will have fun playing it by yourself.
It is not too bad when you play it by yourself, but it's just too easy for you to have fun, the ease makes playing with groups & young children fun & easier!!

Mostly impressed, but lacking tons of content.

After buying this game (used) for an extremely good price, I researched and found out Mario Party 4 was rated the best (hence why they are selling for more then the others) But anyways, this game (7) is still pretty fun and does have lots of minigames. My only complaint is that while it had like 8 game modes you can play, each only has one level so if you prefer one over the others, you'll be playing the same stage everytime.

Anyways, i'd still recommend this game to anybody looking for entertainment with friends.

Great game, lots of fun!

Lets face it if you love mario party like we do, you just have to have all of then. Mario party 7 is no exception. This game just like all mario party games is full of fun mini games perfect for when your friends or family come over. The graphics look great on progressive scan with the EON hdmi adapter. And if you get lucky or blessed like me 😊 you can get your hands on an Mclassic. EON ➕ Mclassic! Forget about it. This game is already great! But on 1080 it's even better. I love this game. If you're a fan of the franchise like me, this is a must have game to your GameCube collection. 👍Read full review...

Mario Party 7

This is a great Mario Party game because it allows for you to have from one to eight players (by sharing controllers for more than four). There are many fun mini-games, and the game also sometimes requires the use of a microphone. Overall this is a great party game for even fairly large groups of people (up to eight playing at a time).Read full review...

Party Game Central

The sole purpose that I brought Mario Party 7 was because it is a great party game. As a college student you don't have time to sit down and play a 1v1 game and let your friends sit out waiting for next so I decided to purchase party games such as Mario Party. I have to say it is the most fun when you have a full house of players, especailly when they are all competitive.

The graphics are cute and the gameplay is fun. There is an endless amount of mini games to entertain you and your friends for a good amount of time and once again you can unlock many new features such as new maps, mini games, and items. Of course I can't say the same for 1 player option but as a multiplayer game it is a must have. Just get your 4 controllers ready for some crazy nights of Mario Party.
