M.O.M is a must have for any retro fan.

A great multi-player strategy game for Genesis/Mega drive, where one can summon and control various monsters and beast to become the next lord of magic.

An Excellent Classic Game

This game is and was a delight to play. You basically start out with the ability to summon various basic monster types. You summon these monsters and spread them out to capture towers, which gives you the ability to summon yet more monsters. However, this simple description belies the many subtleties and nuances to gameplay.

First off, your summoned monsters will gain experience with each battle. When they reach a certain number of experience points, they will Metamorphize into a different/stronger version of that monster. Some will only do this once, many have a level 3 super-form which will do high damage.

Secondly, all monsters do damage of a specific type. Some damage types are more effective against other monsters than others. Some monsters will be almost useless against the wrong monster type. This makes for great strategy in gameplay as you attempt to pit the best monster to defeat an opponents monster.

If all of this sounds complicated, it's not. You will very quickly learn the ins and outs of monster management.

I have never played this game against other players, I mostly played campaign mode. There are 2 campaigns that are highly challenging. Be very careful when you save the game in campaign mode, because you only have one save slot, and if you save the game at a point at which it is impossible for you to win, you will have to start the entire campaign over again. This is painful, because you may lose hours of play.

I have spent countless hours playing this game, and highly recommend it for the strategy gamer. It's a delight to play.

Very good reproduction

Box is very close to vintage genesis box, artwork/print is high quality. Next to the authentic case it is VERY hard to tell the difference without looking closely.

The Best Game Ever Made

I first rented this game for the sega genesis back in the early 90's. Since then i have every good computer game there is, but I had to go back and buy this game because i missed it. I tell you, this game is like crack to me. I can't stop playing it, and i haven't slept in 2 weeks since i got it.I wish they would make a new version without messing up the basic mechanics of the game like the playstation one.Read full review...

Master of Monsters

Played this game on the Sega Genesis many years ago. It's a great RPG and a nice mix of strategy and luck. It's not for those who prefer the quicker arcade styled real time games, but if you're looking for a mix between Risk, Chess, Pokemon, in a Lord of the Rings type setting... you'll love this old school game.Read full review...
