Unusable

When I first bought my line trimmer, when the line on the spool ran out, I tried to save money and rewind the spools myself. Didn't work. When you try to install it, the line unwound and I would have to rewind it. Took forever. Also, when the line needed to advance, it would bind and I had to take the spool out and fix the problem. It was a nightmare, so I learned just to pay the money and get new spools from the manufacturer. I assumed that that was what I was buying here, but these are spools that have been rewound by hand and cause all the same problems I had when I did it myself. Avoid the headache. Go buy the real deal somewhere else. Also the line is bigger than what is recommended and so it doesn't cut the end off properly when the line advances.Read full review...

Not much is as useless as a trimmer without string. This is the right one, and a lot less frustrating than trying to wind it yourself (unless you have three hands with two thumbs apiece).

Worth the extra money to buy pre-packed string. This pack Instruction booklet has a diagram that CORRECTLY and FULLY explains how the mechanism should work when you DIY it afterward when the thread runs out. I should have bought his years ago and avoided the headaches with de-spooling and improper threading that is not explained in the original Homelite Trimmer owner's manual. No brainer.
