A 4 out of 5

I've been playing the expansion pack pretty much since it came out, I never was part of the old world WoW so my entire experience has been post-BC. I have LOVED this game, definitely something that if you have the time and desire to do... do it! I have really only one critique on the game itself.

Note: anyone who has an addictive personality, shouldn't be playing the game. Self-control and moderation, like anything else, is key to playing WoW.

The PvE (Player vs. Environment) aspect of the game has been seriously harmed by the addition of the arena PvP (Player vs. Player). Don't get me wrong, I had 3 level 70s, one PvP focused and two PvE focused. The arenas are fantastic fun and adrenaline pumping action but the PvE has been thrown out the window because all people have done is gotten very good PvP gear thinking they're top notch and made for very poor raid groups.
This also applies then to the 5 man instances in Outland (areas new to the expansion pack). People barely run those instances because it's easier to get the PvP gear rather than run the instances.

All-in-all: a fantastic game that I loved every minute I played, but know that the PvE aspect of the game has been harmed due to the increasing focus that the gamemakers have on PvP.

Great Expansion

While its too early to say, the expansion is not all it's cracked up to be. It's got a few new bells and whistles such as new zone of Outland, one new profession, two new races, and an overhaul in itemization, but when it boils down, this game is made for level 60's.

Why do I say this?
Outland is off limits till 58+, meaning if you just bought World of Warcraft and are not interested in rolling Blood Elf or Draeni, then don't bother picking up that expansion quite yet. Also the old professions are overhauled for 60+ characters, I was really hoping they would add a few more low level instances or something to spice up that average level 40. I guess you win some and lose some.

Boiling it down:

If your level 60, this is a must have.

If your not, wait it out! I know you're missing a profession and two races, but trust me you can't fully utilize most of the content until level 60. So my advice to you is to hit the grind, hit 60, and pick this expansion up.

Side Note:

This review can't be complete because I have not run 25 Man Raids, I am looking forward to this but alas, the game is only a couple of days old.

Difficulty:
Same as World of Warcraft

Gameplay:
Same as World of Warcraft with a couple of new elements, like Bombing runs on a flying mount.

Graphics:
After getting a buff in coding, these graphics won't bog down when you and 39 of your buddies start casting spells.

Sound:
Just as good as it once was, with a few new voices.

Value:
If your 60 Great, if you're not, =(

A bit more of the same

As always Blizzard brings great content. HOWEVER, its alot of the same old grind. If you didn't mind the first 500+ hours of grinding then you'll love the expansion. PROS - Outland has alot of really aesthetic new areas, team PVP arenas, flying mounts(NICE!), new instances are usually 25 man.(= less time to gather players) CONS- alot of the new world mobs are just tiny variations of the old content. NOT VERY ORIGINAL BLIZZARD!!! and lots and lots of GRINDING!!!! ARGH!Read full review...

Burning Crusade thoughts from an active 70 shaman

I started playing WoW the day it was released. My main is a shaman, level 60 with full Warlord Gear and High Warlord Weapons, plus a full set of MC gear. I also play a 60 hunter and have a 60 rogue to top off the 60s list. Before the expansion I played daily, mixing my time with PvP and 2 to 3 nights of raiding. Burning Crusade for me is a questing dream. I haven't quested for so long that this expansion is very refreshing for me. I am 62 now and the quests are progressive, well thought out and move you naturally through the various areas.

I also like the instances so far. I have done Ramparts, Furnace and the Slave pens. I have more gold than ever before because the rewards are good and I haven't spent any time on upping my trade skills (Herbalism, alchemy, cooking). I think once I get into my skills I will spend a bit working them up. Overall the game is pretty easy though. I wouldn't mind more "elite" quests, so far the ones I have done have been solo or duo with my husband. He is 65 and can kill 68 mobs with ease. Of course he is a Warlock and we all know how overpowered they are.

If you previously quit WoW due to boredom and are thinking of returning, I highly suggest you try it again. It really is very engaging and yet entertaining. At 62 I have already upgraded many of my Warlord Enhancement pieces, and one or two healing pieces.

I am an avid PvPer and cannot wait to hit 70 and then have endless hours of killing alliance ahead of me!

I personally decided to buy BC because I heard that the questing was very extensive and fun. At first I was going to wait a bit, but friends who did the beta kept on about how good it was...they were right!

Oh and yes I created a Blood Elf Pally!

UPDATE -
I am now 70 and am still fully enthralled with the questing. Oh and my oh my did Blizzard hit the nail on the head with flying mounts. For those of you who loved the Dragon books by Ann McCaffrey and as a kid dreamed about flying on your own dragon or pegasus, WoW is the thing for you... Flying allows for quick and efficient outdoor questing. Some bosses are purposefully up high in the trees or tops of pedestals at the higher lvl guesting areas to make us flyers feel like our flying gives us an advantage.

I have now completed my Karazhan key and I find that it is a very difficult 10 man dungeon, perfect for your guild's first BC raid experience with a larger complement of lvl 70s. Honestly the gear there is not great, I haven't seen much in the way of upgrades for me yet, but the faction ring you get quite fast at friendly was an immediate upgrade. Our group hit friendly within an hour of our first time there.

I ended up respeccing Resto from Enh and now have two full nice sets of gear. I still wear my enhancement gear when soloing or PvPing and the resto gear when in stancing. I am pretty well able to solo heal 5 mans. Our Priests have all specced shadow so Usually the main healers are me and a pally.

PvP review. I have joined 2v2, 3v3 and 5v5 arena teams. our 5v5 is pretty good, we win more than 50% each week. I get killed the most. They always go after the shaman because 1. were an easy kill and 2. it removes our bloodlust and totems from the game. Ive upped my hps to offset this slaughter to my person, Im now over 10k hps buffed and it does make a difference.

To give some validity to this review, here are my specs atm, Resto gear: +1014 heal/+11% crit/+45mp5/9.4k mana. Enh gear: +950AP/+102 hit/+19.5% crit

Gaming

One of the ultimates RPGs in gaming experience.
Allows you more choice in character, alliance and quests then the original WoW alone. Allows you to to communicate with other players and have the challenge and fun of working with new people or friends in a fantasy environment. Some people can be rather... odd to say the least
I am very glad I purchased this game on eBay... I get 100% of the entertainment on only a fraction of the cost. The only problem I have is the monthly payments, but I know that is the price that will have to be played when enjoying such a game.

WOW: Burning Crusade For both Casual and Power Gamers

World of Warcaft with Burning Crusade is quite possibly, the best MMORPG (Massive Multiplyer Online Roleplaying Game) ever made. At 9 million active accounts worldwide, it is not only an amazing game, it is a shining example of how game publishers should continually provide new content to the players.

The game caters to both casual gamers and power gamers alike. There is more than enough for beginning players to do as quests lead them to danger and adventure, with each quest getting progressively more difficult as the characters are led deeper into the next, and more dangerous area. As the characters gain experience levels, they eventually reach level 70, the current highest allowed level where the game begins to cater to power gamers. At level 70, there is a whole new set of quests and dungeons that open up that are specifically designed to be very challenging. Add to all of this the options for a completely customizable interface that allows the installation of third party mods and tools to enhance game play, and you have a power gamers dream come true. Everything from the overall look at feel, to button placement, to the way your character can check mail is customizable.

There are 2 factions to choose from and the races for each all provide special skills unique to them: Alliance, made up of dwarves, gnomes, night elves, humans, and the draenei. Or Horde, with members from trolls, orcs, taurens, undead, and blood elves. Each faction is defending their homeland from various evils that roam the land.. While they are fighting to drive out the evils from their homelands, past differences have fueled the war between them. In many areas of World of Warcraft, players are pitted against each other in head to head combat. Players can choose a faction to gain access to the race they like, then depending on the race chosen, there are many classes that are options. The classes include, warriors, priests, mages, warlocks, rogues, hunters, palladins, shamans, and druids.

Aside from classes and factions, players are allowed to form communities called Guilds where they are allowed to have a special tabard showing their insignia, a guild only chat channel, and some other tools for managing and promoting guild members to higher status within the guild. There are also primary professions ranging from Blacksmiths, Leather Workers, Tailors, Alchemists, Miners, Herbalists, Skinners, Enchanters, and Jewel Crafters. Any race/class can be any two primary professions at once. Some races give natural bonuses depending on the profession to fit more in with the game lore and since the professions compliment each other, certain professions tend to be paired together.

Players can also pick all three secondary professions of First Aid, Cooking, and even Fishing! Don't let cooking and fishing fool you, being able to fish up a hard to find fish and having the skill to prepare it correctly can yield some great foods to eat that enhance your character's abilities.

If you want a game you can play a few hours at a time, when you have time, and want to interact with other players in real-time fantasy settings, this is your game.

PROS – Loads of endgame content for the power gamers out there once they reach max level.
CONS – Takes a lot of time if you wish to progress to endgame.

This is the long await expansion pack

This was well worth the wait for the World of Warcraft world. The two new races Blood Elves (The Horde) and Draenei (Alliance) are a great addition to the game. The level Cap has bee raised to Level 70 and you can now get your own Flying Mount which is awesome. This also adds alot of new areas to the game and alot of quests to the game. If you don't own World of Warcraft read my review on that and you will see why this is the best MMORPG around. This game is very addictive and this expansion makes it that much more addictive. This game is worth the 14.95 a month fee to play in my opinion. I can't wait til the next expansion pack comes out for this game and if you buy this game and get into it like the thousands of othersa that play online you won't be able to wait to see what new things they add to the game in the next expansion pack.Read full review...

Another good choice!!!

An excelent game... An excelent secuel. Perhaps you can choose to buy it in the official web of the game (Blizzard) but, if you haven't a credit card compatible with the system you can't buy it. Then... THIS is the right place to buy it.

This version of the game, is for any server of WoW in the World (English, Spanish, Deustch, French, etc...) And can be translated, with a language pack, that blizzard offers to download for free in the main page of worldofwarcraft

If you want to play real nice, and in the official way... don't make doubts about buying a cheaper and excelent game.

In this expansion, the game offers a new continent, two new races, flying mounts, a lot of quests, a new profession, and a bunch of different stuff to play with.

Worth the wait

Well, it took 2 years for the first expansion of World of Warcraft to be released. The game promises only 10 new levels to existing players, which means anywhere from about a week to a month of play (depending on play time). After that you're capped at 70 again and busy yourself with new content while you wait for another expansion. So why the hype, why is this game so great? It's quite simple--the new content is amazing. The Outland is a great new place to quest, the zones are huge, and, unlike parts of the original game, it is easy to level all the way from 60 to 70 just by doing quests alone.

Leveling is much more fun this time around (that's not to say it wasn't fun before, but it's moreso now) and the new world is so much different from the old that it's difficult to imagine feeling that its "more of the same." One of the best parts of the expansion, though, and one not to be missed, is the addition of two new races, Dranei and Blood Elves, and the storyline that accompanies the respective races. The new starting areas are remarkably well done and the plotline fantastic. Even if you're a veteran player of WoW, don't pass up the opportunity to explore the new zones.
