Quirky, Smart, Funny and Dark...Just Like Tim Burton

Tim Burton's work is recognizable for its originality, quality and dark and quirky characters. Every frame looks like a painting and on HD everything looks sharper and even in the fog the details can be seen.

In the 19th century, Ichabod Crane (Johnny Depp) works as an investigator in NYC. He is sent to Sleepy Hollow to investigate a series of decapitations. There he meets and falls for Katrina Van Tassel (Christina Ricci), the daughter of one of the town officials - all who seem to be hiding something.

The acting is fantastic. Johnny Depp is at his best when working with Burton, he is vulnerable and weird in every role. The art direction is amazing - the town is gray and cold and very creepy.

Highly recommended! There is violence, it is dark and dreary with some creepy and suspenseful moments (ok, it is mostly creepy and suspenseful) but nothing gory.Read full review...

Sleepy Hollow HD DVD

Recently into HD DVD. I got the top Toshiba player. It upconverts to 1080p and I wanted to see the difference between a regular DVD and the identical HD DVD version on my Panasonic Viera bigscreen in 1080p. Honestly, no differece that I can see! Regardless, I have always liked the movie, Depp, and Burton. Classic tale with a great modern production that features horror, comedy, mystery, and some pretty good special effects. I would like to note that Christopher Walken conquers a diffictult role as the ghostly nemesis without speaking a single word; which I didn't realize until retrospect. Absolutely love this movie and extremely happy I went with this brand new HD version, it came in perfect condition! Also came 3 days early!

To start with this is a great film. To buy it on hd dvd just makes it that much better. Only bad thing is hd dvd's are now pretty much going extinct since blu ray took over. Both are good players, blu ray just happened to win. So if you still happen to have an hd dvd player and are planning to keep it, well then this is a must have for it.Read full review...

bad dvd

the dvd does not work in any dvd player. Ive tried to play it in 8 different players, including hd dvd players and it gives an error message. I bought it for a gift for my daughter.
