Eh

This game is just alright. Nothing really good about it, rather poor story. If you want a similar game to this one try Heavy Rain.

Great game, but not great replay value. Fun as well as different, though.

In interesting game, but not the game that I'd have hoped for. There was plenty of interesting new design, and engaging game play. The story was good, but the open world was not very useful or fun. Rockstar has mastered the open-world game play with the Grand Theft Auto series, but this game lacks the options and senseless fun that one can have in those games. The game quality is tremendous, and the character design and animation is great. As far as video games go, this is surely one of the better games available, but not the best.Read full review...

Search for Clues, Question Suspects, Chase & Shoot down Crooks + Good Story

This is an AWESOME game if you like DETECTIVE work or PUZZLES. If your looking for a game like GTA, wrong tittle, their way different. You play as Detective Phelps as he shuffles through various desks that assign him cases that you will have to solve, which works your way up the ladder in the police force. BASICALLY finding CLUES, CHASING bad guys, INTERROGATING suspects and having SHOOT outs at various points in the story is the actual game. CASES are engaging though sometimes REPETITIVE but trying to solve the mystery and following the storyline makes up for it. And the gameplay, story and open world adds to the fun. However, interrogating is a skill to master. Search the net for some tips. So if you think you can enjoy investigating a crime scene and questioning suspects for clues/or the truth with various chases and shot outs, then this is your game.Read full review...

The body does not lie, but wrong

The body does not lie, but wrong
The main attraction of "L.A. Noire ", and its setting, is how it works. This is a game that deals with the search for clues, intuition and perception of the player. You should look for evidence in every corner, and so have clues to discover who the killer is.

One of the main features of the game lies in the way the player interacts with other characters in the game, especially when it comes to interrogate them. Phelps has three ways of approaching the respondent: believe, doubt or accuse him of lying. To arrive at these conclusions is necessary to keep an eye on the interviewee's facial expressions and analyze his attitude, because everything is represented in detail.

Generally people do not feel comfortable lying to a cop, and this can be analyzed for their behavior to avoid, for example, direct eye contact, or gulping a sarcastic smile in the corner of his mouth. Only if it were that simple would not be fun.

You must also assess the circumstances and state of mind that the respondent is because not all people can be direct when they receive bad news. A good example is a young girl who has just discovered that his mother died. As she is in shock, she hardly going to give solid answers. This will create an increasingly complex as Phelps goes up the career ladder.

If you are unsure, you can use intuition, skill that can indicate what the right answers and the clues which prove that the interviewee is lying. These points are released intuition as you do the right questions and give a dynamic evolution essential to the game.

Even though the game has a linearity, it is not as rigid as it sounds, because each person plays and face the facts of a very particular way. This provides different experiences for different players and that can generate interesting discussions about the ways that the cases were solved and it definitely changes the way to make the narrative of a game.

Entertaining for awhile, if you're gonna buy it, buy it used.

I bought this game looking for some fun and knowing how well Rockstar makes games. Loved the way they made the story, the graphics and the whole setting is great. 5 stars on that. The thing that just didn't get my approval was that the game became SO repetitive that it really turned me off. Finding clues was so ridiculous, you have to actually "run over the place" till you spot all the clues you need. Apart from that, it's a good game overall. But they really didn't polish that part. Could've been a game of the year. Also there's very little open-world stuff such as those you see in GTA.

Looks like they rushed the making of the game, could've dedicated more time to details. Seriously, it gets disappointing when you're doing the same thing over and over. If you like puzzle/detective games then you might like this for a while. If you like action-packed games GTA-style, DO NOT buy this trust me. The only action you get is car chases (and boy do they get repetitive)

Great game to play

L.A. Noire is different. It's not like most video games developed by Rockstar. You don't play the outlaw running wild, free to kill, steal, and cause destruction. You're a cop. A good cop at that, determined to restore order to the violent streets of 1940s Los Angeles.

L.A. Noire's not like most games. Sure, there are car chases, gunfights, and a point-tally to judge the quality of your police justice, but it's a slow-paced, meditative experience. The focus isn't on how good you are at scoring headshots with a pistol but instead your ability to read a suspect's face and determine if he or she is telling the truth, holding something back, or flat out

great detail and graphics

For all of its attention to detail, L.A. Noire hits the occasional false note. For instance, the way people you pass on the street constantly comment loudly to nobody in particular about having seen you in the papers or indicate that you could use a bath is awkward, and it sticks out like a sore thumb in a world that tries so hard to be believable. But this is a minor nitpick with a game that gets under your skin the way few games do. L.A. Noire's length can vary significantly, depending on how many street crimes you respond to and how much of your own driving you do, but in any case, the 21 story cases make for a complete and satisfying experience. You come into contact with the seamy side of the movie industry and with major players in the gambling racket; you meet working stiffs and powerful businessmen; you encounter low-ranking mob thugs and Mickey Cohen, one of the most powerful gangsters in Los Angeles at the time. L.A. Noire is a unique game with a terrific sense of period atmosphere, absorbing investigation mechanics, and a haunting tale with plenty of moments that would be right at home in a classic film noir. Those smoky nights spent listening to jazz at the Blue Room, and the price you paid for them, will stay with you long after you've retired your badge and gun.Read full review...

GREAT EXPERIENCE LIKE GTA

after a few hours of gameplay all that police work begins to look as boring as an investigation should actually be: hours and hours of much research and thinking for a few effective moments of adrenaline - which in a game can get tiring. Missed a greater investment in more things to do in Los Angeles, more side missions, patrols or even alternative attractions. In other Rockstar titles they are the rule after all. The linearity of LA Noire massive underdeveloped nat map available. A better system of direction, shooting and fighting also fouls.Read full review...
