A Great Remake of a Fantastic Classic!

"Final Fantasy 2" was a great game on the Super Nintendo, and Sony has made it better!

Take up blade and spell in an epic adventure to save the world from the evil emperor! You will play as 8 different characters as some enter and leave your party of four as you travel around the world on foot, in canoe, ship, aircraft or chocobo, fight a huge variety of different enemies, explore deep dungeons! There is a wide variety of weapons and armor you may choose from including swords, axes, daggers, bows, staffs, spears, helmets, body, leg, and arm armor, and shields. There is also a wide variety of powerful magic spells that you can discover, and level up! The higher the level, the bigger the spell!

The game play is great! Controlling all the vehicles, fighting the enemies, and solving puzzles.

The graphics of this game is amazing! Sony did a fantastic job redesigning all the graphics, making incredible detail and smooth lines, but managed to keep the look of the classic game!

The story of this game was beautifully written! You can get incredibly involved in this game, and every character has their own purpose and personality!

And the new saving method in the pause menue lets you save your game at virtually any time in the game (aside from in the middle of a battle or cut-scene)

There are also some extra bonuses in this game including extra dungeons, art gallery, music gallery, and enemy bestiary!

The only fault I can think of, is there are some loading screens, and sometimes it may take a few seconds to load a battle, or loading a cut-scene. Other then that, the game is fantastic in every way!

It's a good game

People seemed to be confused on the fact that this Final Fantasy is something new entirely. This is NOT the same Final Fantasy that was released on the SNES. This was NEVER released in the US until PS released Origins. This is a remake of that game with slightly better graphics. So when you read reviews on here with people claiming it's nothing like the SNES FF2... Duh, it's not the same game idiots. It's an alright game with some added dungeons and better graphics. If it's $9.99 get it or $15. Otherwise, don't.Read full review...

Final Fantasy II for the PSP

Got it for my grandson who absolutely loves it. Has skipped many a meal for playing the game and not quitting. Really cheap price and expected a used game but received a brand new boxed game. Incredible. Game worked perfectly from the get-go. Asked my grandson to include a few comments, but he's busy right now...sorry. LOL. Got these comments out him before the game got here:
1- My friends love it, so I want it.
2- The artwork is really fabulous.
3- I have the first one and love it..want to keep it going.

Personally, I loved the Final Fantasy Series on nintendo and the snes. Still
have them as a matter of fact. Would never think of getting rid of them.

Worth the money for a trip down memory lane.

I bought this because way back when I had a Playstation, I enjoyed the Final Fantasy series of games. This game is pretty much as I remember it only on a slightly smaller scale.
The graphics are as good as what I remember on the PS1 and the controls are easy enough to work. It does seem like it takes a long time to build up stats and "Gil" to buy armor and weapons which provides hours of play time.

The only down is that it seems that when you stay within the general track of where you want to travel, the monsters you fight are easy enough to defeat but, it takes forever to build up fighting them. When you stray away from the route, you come up against monsters that will defeat you with one blow and I have yet to be able to run from any battle even if I try. The only way to get around this is to save a lot during the game.

All and all this game is worth buying for the fun it provides and my kids will love it when I pass this onto them.

A Great Remake of the Original

Just like FF1 for the PSP, this game is a super charged remake of the original game for the NES. If you are expecting the awsome graphics and long movies like in the newer FF games, this game may not be right for you. This is a cleaned up, with features added remake of the 8-bit classic. You have to fight your way through the story while trying to perform certain tasks. They have now put the monster list on the select menu so you can see what monsters you have fought and which ones you have not. Not more looking at the big paper chart and trying to find your way. Due to the small screen of the PSP, the world map is very hard to see. This was the only downfall I found with this game; but then how much time do you really spend looking at the world map.
Well worth the money!!

A Decent Sequel

The reason why anyone would want to play this game on a new system is because it's a classic. There are far better games for the PSP than Final Fantasy II. But, this is the sequel to the game that started it all for RPGs.

As far as the game play goes, it's not really that great. It's like going back and playing Zelda again, or Pac Man. You like these games, and they're classics, so you play them. Don't expect too much when you buy this game, other than the fact that it is a well known classic for its genre.

The story is cool but it's hard to figure things out unless you've already beat the game back in the 90's or whenever - or if you get a game guide. It's kinda like, oh, after I got the crystal eye, I was supposed to take it over to the giant rock guy and then push up on the third wall panel from the left... how would you know that? I don't know. But it's a classic...

The original Final Fantasy 2, not the renumbered SNES game.

I noticed a great many of the reviews for this game are mentioning "Final Fantasy 2" for the SNES.
This is NOT the same game. This is the original FF2 for the Famicom 8-bit system that was never released in the USA on the NES. The original 2, 3, and 5 were not released in the USA until long after 7 was released, which is why there is some confusion in the numbering.
It is still a great game, and well worth picking up, just do not expect to see Cecil, Rydia, Rosa, Kain and company.
