How many times can the devil cry??

Ahh finally #4 decides to come out...and on multi-platform which was the best thing that could happen to the 360(since Halo 3 and COD:4).The visuals on this game were great..well great for me because I have HD so maybe that's why they came out even more. There's nothing new about this series compared to the rest if you played them on the PS2.New bosses and a new character is how I saw it.

You start off as loud mouth Nero who can never seem to keep his mouth shut when it comes to approaching new bosses. His new weapons and ability skills are great to experience in the game...but just like the other Devil May Cry games the attack buttons get repetitive. You would think he's this tuff cocky demon who wouldn't care about anyone, except for his love for Kyrie. That's when he becomes a baby...that's when you become Dante halfway through the game once Nero gets caught, but I won't give too much info out, might be a spoiler.

Dante's new weapons we're cool but he has different styles that you can change by hitting the directional pad up,down, left,or right...which made fighting demons a whole lot different and somewhat complicated. He has a little more to choose from then Nero, but the main focus is Nero.

The bad thing I would have to give this game is the fact that you fight the main bosses about 3 times...which starts to get boring even after fighting them once. You basically move forward halfway through the game with Nero...then backtrack to the begining with Dante...except for the last boss which is for Nero to defeat. The other thing I would say that wasn't so great was the mission count...really 20 missions?? Most of it was just to retrace your steps and recycle all the same bosses...I mean really Capcom why disappoint with #4 when #1 and #3 had great action...eventually it's like playing #2 on one disk instead of 2.

Now unlocking the new modes is what gives it it's replay value. The Son of Sparta mode and Dante Must Die is what keeps this game in my 360...that and unlocking the achievements. There's also a couple new modes Heaven and Hell, and Bloody Palace. It's basically new stuff to keep you in tuned with the game if you decide to continue playing. Will there be a Devil May Cry 5?? and if so will it be Nero?? or back to Dante?? or even another new character?? I don't know...but how long will this devil cry??

Devil May Cry 4

It's fun, a bit repetitive but worth the experience. Cut scenes are really pretty and the game play is somewhat easy after you understand the game mechanics which WILL take you awhile to get it down effectively. This is not a great game for "Achievement Boosting" as a lot of them take mastering the game and most likely having to replay the entire game.

Cons: Repetitive. Can't change the default camera angle controls. Achievements pretty much are obtained by replaying the game once your able to get the score needed on each level. A part of me wanted to change the Gun and Sword attack buttons but never did.

Devil May Cry 4 (Xbox 360)

If you're looking for an action game that involves real interaction, this ISN'T the game for you. Now you're wondering why the score has a solid 4/5, I'll explain. This game has amazing cutscenes, although they're at every loading point it's as if you're watching a movie. When fighting with monsters you'll certainly feel stiff and confused, but I got the hang of it, so I'm sure others will too.

Another things that this game has been itched on - the developers tried to make it as much as a movie scene every second of this game that sometimes the camera angles are fixed into a very awkward position as to the point where you get confused on where to go.

All in all, if you're ready to see some great fighting scenes, DMC 4 for $10 isn't a bad deal.

Good game for your money

This game has everything you were told it had to make you buy it. The adventure is great. The only complaint i have about it is you have about 5-6 hours of game and you really dont get the most points to buy upgrades. But i guess thats no big problem they probly did that to make it challenging. And it is pretty challenging you go into the game thinking these guys are really slow but a little wod of advice. Never ever get surrounded. Because if you do they can and will attack you all at once. They do pack a pretty good punch. But over all this game certainly is an upgrade to the last three. Like being able to use your arm to grab demons long distance. There are upgrades on how far away you can grab them too. So to close ill say this is a great game and im pretty sure you can get use to the camera angles.Read full review...

A great, and difficult, action game!

Having played this game when it first came out, i decided to pick it up again.
The fourth installment of the Devil May Cry Series, and the first one on a non-Sony console, is a great game thatll keep you entertained for a while.
Dante returns, albeit not at first. Instead, you play through the first few missions as newcomer Nero, who, while similar in style, plays completely different than our favorite Devil Hunter. The missions are fun, and tend to be quite difficult, especially in some of the un-lockable difficulty's later on, and youll fight a handful of big menacing Boss Devils. The only con i had with this game, is that at one point in the story, your forced to replay the same exact levels again.

Stylistic Action

That truly is the best way to describe this game. It's very reminiscent of the old hack and slash style games of previous console generations, with the notable difference being how visually stunning this game is. The backgrounds are well designed and the enemies and character models are beautifully detailed. If there is one (ok, two) knock(s) on this game it's that the camera can sometimes show the gameplay from an awkward angle which can make platforming difficult and frustrating, and at a certain point in the game, you are forced to redo several levels. Timing and finesse are more important in this game than random mashing. This is a quality game and if you can buy it on the cheap, it's definitely worth the investment.Read full review...

Devil May Cry 4 Awesome when you get to play

The game is pretty fun when you get to actually play it. I feel like there's so much of the game that you have to watch through pre-rendered movies. I mean the presentation is pretty cool and all, but it's a game, so let me play. I haven't played any of the previous games in the series, and maybe all the lengthy cinematics is normal. The game seems almost too easy. Dodging is a pain in the butt to use. The combat is fun. If you like Ninja Gaiden, but didn't like the Ninja Gaiden difficulty, then this game is definitely for you.Read full review...

DMC 4-Could have been better

I have to begin the review by saying that the graphics for this game are definitley next gen. The game looks beautiful and plays pretty well. The level design is also gorgeous. Some of the action does get repetative as the game goes on. I also found that some of the generic demon puppet enemies were out dated and similar to those of past games.
Another cool thing was being able to play as Nero. He's a new character similar looking to Dante but with his own unique powers and abilities.
The dialogue is super corny as well. Dante constantly keeps saying things like, "adios kid" and other stupid buddy-cop-movies-from-the-80's lines. The constant load screens and corny dialogue in set upo sequences should have been cut down as well.

My personal favorite

Devil May Cry 4 is an amazing game. It's the kind of game that isn't necessarily easy, but can be toned down if you need it to be, thus accommodating any type of player. DMC4 has excellent replay value in this aspect also, as you can play it on harder difficulties. Not only that, but it offers to those who seek it, a challenge of skill and ability as a player, in that, with the rating system, one can seek to improve his or her own personal best, or with enough ambition, best the top rated players in the world. Personally, I am enjoying playing the game through on all difficulties, as well as going back and bettering my scores on each mission, striving to improve my own skills and become a better player, an aspect that you don't find too often in games these days. Needless to say, Devil May Cry 4 is fun, challenging, and re-playable (over and over again). I play this game 90% of the time (and I own titles like Gears of War 1 and 2, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Eternal Sonata, Rainbox Six Vegas, etc.) I even went out and bought a used PS2 so I could play Devil May Cry 3.Read full review...
