ANGEL - The name says it ALL!!!!! :D

Angel was probably the best show/ spin-off to ever air on television and without a doubt deserves a beautiful collector's box set like this one. In an amazing collection, what you should be waiting for once you order this baby is a box big enough to fit five seasons in these awesome and portable cd wallet type things that have all discs for each season inside. The show, on the other hand, is even better. Unlike Buffy, Angel is a darker show filled with witty remarks, style, a follow through story line and just the best humor squeezed in, making it the perfect show. Also, after the series ends, you can continue knowing more about the characters by reading Angel: After the Fall (a series of comic books, representing the SIXTH SEASON of Angel and A SEVENTH SEASON due to be printed later this year. Angel is a show that will always be remembered as it's own show, even though it was a spin-off. The character development was perfection and it'll show you a whole new look at DESTINY. Do NOT miss out on this show and DEFINITELy consider this box set. Each buyer also receives a letter from the producer "JOSS WHEDON" about his experience on the show.

Excellent Show, great collection, worth watching

Ok, if you were like me, when Buffy the Vampire Slayer first came out you were way too cool to watch something with such a stupid name. Big mistake. I ended up buying the Angel DVD collection in a kind of backwards way. I became a big fan of David Boreanaz and Christain Kane from Bones and Leverage. In researching other roles they were in, discovered Angel (both were in it - what more could you want!?), so I bought the Angel DVD's and then discovered that Angel was a spin off from Buffy. I love the Angel DVD's so thought I would give Buffy a try (you can watch Angel without having watched Buffy, but you do miss some of the 'inside' jokes or references from Buffy).

So, I worked my way back from Bones/Leverage (which are not actually related to Buffy and Angel, they just have some of the same actors) to Buffy and I have to say that I've really enjoyed the trip and am now an even bigger fan of David Boreanaz, Christain Kane, James Marsters and the whole cast of Buffy and Angel. Angel is a bit darker than Buffy, with more dark humor and less laugh out loud jokes that you would find on Buffy, but still you get into the characters and you care about them all. The ones that came over from Buffy (Angel, Cordelia and Wesley) all 'grow up' on Angel; really it's an amazing transformation over the years to watch the characters mature. The addition of Spike and Harmony later in the series are also wonderful additions adding a few more laughs than there were earlier in the series (especially from Spike with his sarcastic humor).

And, yes, it's not just for kids or teens - if you can let your imagination just accept the premise of demons and portals and vampires with a soul, then you will LOVE Angel.

The action/fight sequences are amazing and the special effects are first class, but my favorite thing about the show are the characters, which Joss Whedon was a genius at creating and making them so real that you can't help but care for them all. No matter where you are in life, there is something here that you can relate to.

I highly recommend Angel (and Buffy). The only downside to Angel, the series ended too soon - it could easily have gone on another 2 seasons and still not gotten old or worn out.

Angel Collector's Set

Whether sooner or later, most of us found our way to the Angel series by way of Buffy, where most of the characters and cast originated. Liberated from his role as the Slayer's love interest (but not from his obsession with her), Angel sets up shop in LA, helping the helpless in response to calls from "The Powers That Be." Throw in an evil law firm, a new slew of disgustingly inventive demons, and some engaging new sidekicks and you're set for a 5-year run that darkens and strays in the middle but rebounds for the grand finale, a tour de force featuring Jamer Marsters as Spike.

The resurrection of Darla is a major plus. Julie Benz is compelling, and her appearance provides opportunities for elegant and elaborate flashbacks that flesh out the back story of the dark quartet: Angel, Darla, Spike, and Drucilla in period costumes shed important light on the entire Slayer saga.

Anglel the spin off, good stuff

If you liked Buffy then I think you will like Angel as well. They are two totally different series with two totally different feels to them. Angel is darker than buffy and maintains a more adult sense of humor. It's pretty bad ass to have the complete series in one convient boxset. It's definately worth 100 bucks. If you own the buffy set then you should get the Angel one as well.
I can't forget to mention the buffy cross-over characters that help to make the show. The timeline goes in sync with Buffy as well. Sarah Michelle Gellar is a Bitch in my opinion (I still love her though) for not doing a cameo in the final episodes of Angel like David Boreanaz did for Buffy. Oh well, what are you gonna do? All in all Joss Whedon is a goddamn genious! Firefly, Serenity, Buffy, Angel, Doll House, this dude know's what the fudge he is doing. If you see any movie or TV series with "created by: Joss Whedon" on it, get it or you're a stupid gorram idiot!

City of ANGEL

If you were a fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer starting a decade ago, you already know that Angel brought Cordelia and Wesley with him from Sunnydale to L.A. in this classic spinoff. To spice up this awesome cast, add a dash of Lorne, Spike, Darla, Fred, Gunn, Lilah and Harmony. A near-perfect ensemble in a brilliantly written show. I started off the year renting the shows in order from Buffy and Angel to view with my daughter, now 11. The episodes are every bit as charming, exciting and witty as they were when I first saw them. So I decided to purchase them all instead of renting them. Great decision! This particular box collection of Angel is gorgeous and well-designed, chock full of info and special features. Now we can go back and review any of our favorite episodes when we want. So, if you are a fan of Joss Whedon or David Boreanaz, what are you waiting for? Send off for this collection ASAP and relive the good times, or experience them for the first time at your leisure.Read full review...

Ups and Downs

Angel has it's ups and downs throughout the whole series...there are times when production values are very high, but the character development isn't as strong. Times when the plot and dialogue are so good it's easy to overlook the cheaseball monsters involved. There are a few times when a plot goes in directions I personally dislike, but I continued watching because I always cared enough about the core characters that I want to see how this affects them.

Sometimes heavy-handed with the morals they try to share, Angel is ripe with social commentaries and has more character development than I have ever seen in a single show. I cannot recommend this show enough to someone who likes supernatural shows. It's deeper than Buffy, and luckily she's only rarely involved in episodes.

An excellent collection and a good buy

I've been waiting for this collector's set to be available ever since the Buffy collector's set was released, and I was disappointed that the Region 1 version for Angel wasn't available immediately. While this box set of Angel doesn't have a bonus disc as the box set of Buffy did, it's still an excellent buy and a great way to keep the whole fantastic series on display.

Now that I've got my Angel box, I've lent out my DVDs of the individual seasons and kept the Collector's set for myself. A great buy for any Whedon fan and a great story for anyone looking for something of quality on television.

Very good collection

This collector's set is really nice. It takes up a bit less space than all 5 seasons individually, and it comes in a nifty box. In addition to the DVDs, it comes with a letter from Joss Whedon and a thick booklet listing every scene of every episode of every DVD. The DVDs come stacked in little plastic trays, and it's pretty easy to flip through the stack to get to the disc you want.

The only downside to getting this over each individual season is that you don't get the art on the cover of the seasons boxes. I believe, however, that the new material is worth it.

Overall, a very good product.

Angel: The Complete Series Collector's Set

Ever since my friend introduced me to Buffy, I have been a die hard fan. I started and finished my own collection of the 7 seasons of Buffy and wanted to start buying the Angel seasons as well. I purchased this box set a few days ago and am in TV heaven. Thanks to this set, I now have every Buffy and Angel episode that has been released. The box the DVDs came in is very handsome and looks good on my gray DVD shelf. If you are a fan of the spin off of Buffy, I highly recommend purchasing this set.Read full review...

Angel - Collector's Set (2007, DVD)

If you are a fan of Buffy you cannot help but to love Angel. It falls into the category of comedy/drama. I call it my bipolar episodes. One minute I am laughing and the next I am crying. The writers have wit and charm. The characters are appealing and some you just love to hate! I was very happy when Spike showed up in the last season. How can you not love that platnum honey! and I also LOVE Loren!!! What personality. If you need to escape the crazines of the day, Angel and his sidekicks can definitely take you on a ride!Read full review...
