Prepare for a unique workout that is actually FUN!

I've been using Kinetic for about a week now, and have completed one full week of personal training. Kinetic makes a game out of exercise, literally. With the EyeToy (required) and the full vision lens (comes with the game) you actually see yourself in a digital workout environment. Kinetic offers multiple methods of exercise: strength, aerobic, combat, and mind/body. To be honest, Kinetic makes exercising so fun that I have overdone it a bit this week. Man, am I sore! :-)

Strength training exercises are essentially floor exercises that really work. There are three strength training areas: Upper body, mid section, and lower body. Unfortunately the game doesn't provide free weight exercises. However, it suggests that you add weight to any of the exercises to make them more challenging. Where you add the weight is up to you I suppose.

Aerobic exercises come in various flavors that require the player to perform large motions to catch moving targets on the screen, or move objects around the screen. These exercises will make you sweat. The only drawback is the fact that the game requires a lot of "real" world space. Make sure you have plenty of room in which to move. If you have children in the house, as I do, make sure they are a safe distance away before starting this exercise.

Combat exercises are my favorite. These anaerobic exercises require quick hits and kicks to smash targets. As you progress, the levels become more challenging. One warning, these are so fun to do you might be tempted to focus solely on the combat exercises. Kinetic approaches exercise from a holistic perspective, so be sure to exercise the muscles and the mind.

The Mind/Body section provides equilibrium exercises, Tai Chi, and meditation. The equilibrium and balance exercises require focus, flexibility, and balance to move an object slowly across the screen. This might sound boring, but Kinetic does a really good job of making this sort of thing fun. You can do these exercises by themselves, or as part of a scheduled training program. The Tai Chi is the best I've ever tried. Like the strength training exercises, the trainer talks you through the steps while performing them on-screen. The meditation exercise is similar. Just be sure you have a quite space in which to perform this one.

All-in-all this game makes exercise fun. You can customize it in various ways. Like most EyeToy games, the exercise room must be well lit, and spacious. Have fun!

I highly recommend this game to anyone who wants to exercise in their home.

This game is great! It is hard to get the lighting just right, but once you do it works fine. Very tough and fun workouts!

Eye toy

This is just like playing on a WII. Great work out! Bonus is you see yourself all the time so it is extra motivating or challenging. Plus all games are interactive and involve movement to keep going. So there is no couch to sit on for hours just moving your fingers; your whole body is moving. We LOVE eye toy "games".Read full review...
