This is a treasure...great story...delightful lyrics...absolutely timeless masterpiece! For the Jeremy Brett (Sherlock Holmes) fans, watch him sing and dance trying to court Audrey Hepburn. Equally amusing is Theodore Bikel who is employed to strip away the mask of this "Fair Lady"! The frank opinions, set to music, are ever so "Politically Incorrect" yet undeniably enjoyable. Whether it's Rex Harrison as Professor Henry Higgins, Wilfrid Hyde-White as Colonel Hugh Pickering, or Stanley Holloway as Eliza's father, a man of very questionable character, we are talking top professional actors in this brilliantly composed Lerner and Loewe play - with everyone at the top of their game. A CLASSIC! :-) My Fair Lady is a Pretty Woman indeed!!

I JUST LOVE THIS MUSICAL!!~~ I purchased this DVD anniversary edition of the Academy Award winning "MY FAIR LADY" to add to our DVD collection after I realized my 19yr old daughter had never seen what she now realizes is the original version of "Pretty Woman." :-) Well, of course this is played by Audrey Hepburn and Rex Harrison in a musical format, and is about making over a poor English flower girl in horse and buggy days, instead of a current day struggling "working girl," Julia Roberts, also of the street and leading man Richard Gere. BUT my daughter thoroughly enjoyed it just the same. She also seemed pleased too to make the connection of the re-make of classic tale after a few minutes in to playing it today for the first time, :-). I loved it as much this time as when I saw it years ago, and also in the theater version years ago! - It is a charming romantic comedy, with a wonderful message really of not judging a book by it's cover. The boy meets girl, loses girl, and gets girl back tale after he realizes he's messed up, smiles! CLASSIC!! :-) ~ MY FAIR LADY is terrific family viewing, with strong family values presented in this classic musical! :-)~~ I'm glad it is available on DVD, and I can't wait to view the EXTRAS disk in this Anniversary Edition DVD of the musical.Read full review...

My Fair Lady, My Favorite Movie

The DVD was a gift for a family member, but I would have purchased it for myself if I didn't already own it!

I love the music and the costumes. I catch myself singing some of the songs as I'm going along with my daily duties, it cracks my husband up. My kids, ages 2-9 also sing along, all boys BTW. My oldest son says it's one of his favorite movies next to The Wizard of Oz and Star Wars.

Delightfully Uplifting Family Oriented Movie. G rating.

The best movie ever made. Audrey Hepburn at her best!
She worked with a coach and sang every song in the movie. It was jack Warner who later brought in Marni Nixon to dub her, as he was dissatisfied with the quality of her voice. Audrey was devastated. My Fair Lady is a must have musical ...

I you have never seen My Fair Lady ... you must see it. If you have seen it, what can I say that you don't already know. Fantastic songs performed by incredibly talented performers. Costumes beyond compare. Audrey Hepburn is beautiful and compelling. It is a long movie, but you don't notice it at all. AND ... as a bonus ... there is a documentary about the making of the movie and the restoration of the film. This is also a must see. Buy this dvd and you won't be disappointed.

The songs make you want to dance all night...

The songs are so inspired, so full of life! They set your feet to dancing whether you are a fan of this era's music or not. (Of course, I am.)
I bought My Fair Lady because I have been searching for the dvd version ever since my vhs version was destroyed in a flood. I am so glad to have this movie back in my collection and with more extras than ever!
The scenes are beautiful, the costumes are breathtaking and the singing... I have already mentioned how amazing it is! Audrey Hepburn and Rex Harrison make a delightful team in this story.Read full review...

Entertaining movie, good acting and memorable sound track.

Musicals are far less frequent these days. This one holds its own over the years because of great acting and wonderful soundtrack.

A very good package for those who enjoy musicals

I found this DVD set to be a collector's item. Comes with a small brochure and the special features disc is particularly interesting. It is narrated by one of the original actors who expressed his view about the movie making which also included the feelings of Audrey Hepburn and him when their singing was dubbed.
