My go-to cream

I've been wet shaving for a few years now and I've probably tried 15-20 different shaving creams. I've tried cheaper brands than Taylor of Old Bond Street and more expensive brands. I always come back to Taylor of Old Bond Street. My favorite TOBS scent is Mr Taylor's. It's a uniquely clean, masculine scent. My wife agrees and it's one of her favorite scents, as well. The cream is one of the easiest to lather that I've found and it offers great protection during shaving. Overall, this is my favorite cream on the market.Read full review...

PRORASO is far better in every respect

PRORASO is far better in every respect, 100% hands down, but TBS is a decent shave cream I started straight razor shaving with and it is an acceptable shave cream. Lather gets hard fast however if mixing thick and begins to set like a soft plaster, not a good trait for shave cream. a challenge to keep the right water ratio mix, unlike PRORASO which is far more user friendly and remains very stable and more soft and supple in the shave. HUGE difference in fact.
I find shaving soap (cake) a little better than TOB as the cake soap stays hydrated and WET, even if mixed thicker.
Side by side, PRORASO is superior and at a little better price point as well. winner, winner chicken dinner for PRORASO.

Smell Like a Manly Grapefruit

I have had previous experience with TOBS (sandalwood scent) and found their products to be of good quality and value.I turned to the dark side because the Art of Shaving produced a better sandalwood scent. Yet, I came back to Taylor of Old Bond Street because AOS is overpriced.

With that said, the grapefruit scent has a great smell and creates a great lather. If you are skeptical of the smell like I was, I recommend giving it a try. It's not overpowering and doesn't smell like that soap your wife keeps buying which explodes an unnatural smell of fruit. It's light, smells good, creates a great lather, and doesn't empty the wallet.

I'm a believer now

I always thought Taylor's shaving cream was overpriced when you can buy a soap puck for 2 or 3 dollars at a local store, but when this was rated as the favorite shaving cream on an online poll of wet shaving enthusiasts, I decided to give it a try. Hoo boy, have I changed my tune! You use a tiny amount to get a rich lather, and it wastes far less than the soap which often creates an excess of suds outside the brush, but not much in the bristles. It is much quicker to work into a fantastic lather than soap, too. I have always held Prorasso as the benchmark for cream type shaving products, but Taylor outperforms Prorasso hands down. This may be on the higher side of the price spectrum, but it is not too outlandish, and is well worth it!Read full review...

Best you can use

I bought my first quality shaving kit while in London. Went to this store (which isn't on Bond street anymore - it's on Germaine or is it Jermain street - I forget) and was very pleased with my kit. Came home and realized I might be hard pressed to get more of the shaving cream. Found it here and was exceedingly pleased with the price and delivery. If you're shaving with cream out of a can and not using a badger hair brush to apply it - you're really missing out on a better experience and quality shave.Read full review...

The smell is awesome and it lathers up great!

Taylor of Old Bond Street Sandalwood Shaving Cream has a great soothing smell that lasts a long time if aftershave is not used.
It gets a nice foam lather when used with my badger brush.
A little bit goes a long ways. At first I was using to much cream. Start with a small amount of cream and keep adding until you get the lather you like. A pea size drop may be good to start with. I lather on my face.Read full review...

i like the scent

Taylor of old bond street shave creams need no review, they have become well established as the standard of quality. The scents however are subjective. You like them or you don't. I like this scent. It smells like grapefruit that has just been sliced open. Makes the room smell good as well.Read full review...
