Nice details and extras but be prepared to use some modelling putty

The fact that this kit includes photo etched metal parts and the picture assembly guide shows the options for using the original plastic parts and for the photoetched parts shows the quality of this kit! On the plus side, the attention to detail for a 1/700 scale ship is excellent. I also chose to use the photo etched parts so super glue was used to add these.

On the negative side, I had to use a fair amount of modelers putty where the flight deck met the hull, and even in places where the superstructure met the deck! On a small model like this it's helpful to have sets of very small modelling sanding tools and a LOT of patience!

In total this is a very satisfying build and rather than mount it on the supplied stand, I have chosen to place it in a small ocean diorama complete with wake, froth, and choppy waves A very time consuming project but well worth it!Read full review
