If you have the right reel this works very well.

This item allows for the removal and change of line spools without having to remove the entire spool. A great idea except Mitchell designed reels which do not uniform accept spools. A 4000 F spool will not work on a 4000 G and Avocet 4000 IV will not interchange with Avocet 2 4000 IV. Confusing! Only the spool with your specific reel numbers and type will fit and function.
