Great Product; Widescreen Edition

There is no doubt that "The Dark Knight" is a great movie; we bought it when it first came out. When I saw this two disk edition, and it didn't say 'widescreen edition' in the description, I ordered this very inexpensive item thinking that it was the fullscreen edition. We have a 30 year old 4x3 aluminized, parabolic projector screen, and, filled with a picture, it is breathtaking. (We have the Epson projector bulb on half voltage and the brightness turned way down because it is so bright.) So we now have two widescreen copies of The Dark Knight. We haven't had time to watch the special feature disk... I will download the digital movie soon though.Read full review...

Don't Miss This If You Can Help It.

Funny but, this is the first Batman feature film that doesn't incorporate the word "Batman" in its title.

There never has been a more exciting time in my life when The Dark Knight showed up at the Box Office. I paid my ticket and then sat back and enjoyed the film better than ever. The reason I enjoyed this movie so much was that, before now, the Batman series of films seemed much more comic book than mimicking real life. The Dark Knight seems to somehow capture the essence that should always exist in the handover from comics to the big screen.

Christian Bale really didn't carry this film to greatness; it was The Joker (Heath Ledger) who made the film extraordinarily real in the sense that the criminal elements came together and alive on film with a burst of originality.

Bruce Wayne, who poses as a rich industrialist, sets out to dismantle the remaining criminal organizations that plague the city streets by creating his own persona known as Batman. Since we already know his intent from the last Film "Batman Begins", we pick up where the story left off in hopes that his complex plans will lead him down the road to success. Little do we know that The Joker will step into his life and thwart many of his plans to once and for all, rid Gotham City of the Low Life Scum that controls its underground.

Gotham City's District Attorney Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) has the best line in the movie, which said, "You die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become a villain."

For the first time in feature film-making, IMAX cameras were utilized. Christopher Nolan had wanted to shoot in the IMAX format for years and wound up doing so. Six major action-heavy sequences, along with various high-altitude shots, were filmed on the IMAX ratio. These sequences are available on the Bonus Disc of the 2-Disc DVD Edition.

I'll give this an average rating of 5/5.

Absolutely the best reprisals of any role ever acted...

Christian Bale & Heath Ledger have managed to take what were great performances by two great actors (Keaton & Nicolson) and raise the bar to a level where even though I have profound respect for these men, thier renditions of the Batman and the Joker seem pale and comical. Bale is able to perfectly portray a man consumed by obsession to the point of self-destruction and Ledger counters this performance with a flawless representation of a man insane with his obsession to destroy everything, including himself. Great story, fast paced, great character development...and the fx's...simply all great. I got my digital copy from "dvdsinthesun" for only 18 bucks, less than it cost me and the wife to see it at the theater. Great price from a truely great seller. Well worth the investment. Grab this dvd sit back in the comfort of your home and enjoy the ride.Read full review...

Best...Comic...Movie...EVER.

The Dark Knight is stunning, in every sense the word. Whether you look at the acting, the directing, the writing, or any other aspect of the movie, it's hard to find a weak point.

Nolan returns to do another incredible job at directing, and once again raises the bar for the Batman series. He creates a perfect balance between having The Dark Knight be a drama about the characters in it and an action-packed crime saga.

The acting alone is terrific. Christian Bale is a natural as Bruce Wayne, and also makes the best Batman I've seen yet, and by his side is Michael Caine, who just seems to fit perfectly as Alfred. Maggie Gyllenhaal does quite well as Rachel and Aaron Eckhart pulls off the transformation from Harvey Dent to Two-Face. Gary Oldman playing Gordon deserves an honorable mention. And then there's Heath Ledger, whose performance alone is nothing short of amazing. A few years ago most people would've said that he would be best known for and remembered by his starring role in Brokeback Mountain. Not anymore.

There's a constant internal struggle for Bruce Wayne, who does all he can to keep the difference between himself and Batman, and the difference between what is right and what has to be done. And all the while chaos reigns in the streets of Gotham, compliments of the Joker, who seems to be the one man who can bring down Batman.

All in all, there is nothing disappointing about The Dark Knight. For a movie that's two and a half hours long, there isn't a dull moment. Living up to the expectations and hype seemed impossible for it to do, but somehow The Dark Knight not only does, but surpasses it.

Excellent Addition to the Batman Collection

The Dark Knight is another hit from the super hero movie genre. I love Heath Ledger’s performance. Probably one of the darkest characters ever brought to the big screen. You can feel the insanity oozing from the moment he enters the picture.
The movie is darker than the previous one, but holds true to the actual Batman comic book feel. A riveting performance from Christian Bale and Aaron Eckhart. If you haven’t seen this action-packed movie yet, get up and rent it today (or better yet, buy it on eBay).
Only bad thing I have to say about the movie is that it is long. You could say you get your money’s worth of film in this purchase. There is a point when it feels like the movie should be over and it just keeps going. It feels like they were trying to put too much into one movie and you have too many characters for proper character development in the amount of time that is given. Still, even with this down side, it is a must see on my scale.
The special edition adds even more excitement with some special features including some IMAX footage of some of the intense action scenes in the highest format possible.

The Crown Jewel in The Batman Legacy

This one sets the high mark for any and all superhero films that come after it . This film has not only one fantastic cast, but also some excellent writing, and amazing special effects, it is in fact a "tour de force" in the film industry . It is the Crown Jewel in the Batman Legacy , as of this date, it sets the high standard to which all movies will be unfairly judged against ! Being a Batman fan, I have found something in all the Batman films I could appreciate to one degree or another, and even enjoyed them all as only a Batman Fan could have in some cases , but this film sets itself apart from the very opening up until the last few seconds of the credits beginning . It is brathtaking, brutal, relaistic, and takes you for a ride like no other Batman film before it ! It is truly one of the Best Films of all time , and it has all of the Batman fans wondering, how, and where, can they go from here? Not to be missed, and if you are a fan, it's definitely a must have for any collector of Batman . Five Stars all the way, it can Not be beat for it's sheer power of entertainment !Read full review...

Simply the best

I had to get this becuase I had received th Dark Knight for Christmas, but the copy without the extras. You just have to see the behind the scenes and extras to this. The world has spoken and whether or not it beat out Titanic money-wise, overall, I'm sure in the end it will be the most paid for movie counting theatres and DVDs. I would have liked to have seen more footage of Heath Ledger and Christian Bale behind the scenes and I'm sure lots of other people would have, too. Like Batman Begins with the Batmobile/Battank, there was a piece on the Batcycle, which was superb. During the movie I had thought about Batman's cape getting caught in those wheels (it just seemed impossible to accomplish), but it comes out in the extras about the working prop. This isn't just a funny action film where things go boom. You get to think about things a bit and wonder where they will go from here. I really enjoyed the Micheal Keaton Batman from 20 years ago, but we all know how cartoony that run got. Good times, but not great films. This run of Batman is astounding to say the least. I like the Spider-mans, funny with action. I like the X-Men, more believable super heroes and stories. I think that Superman and The Hulk could have been better. I think Wonder Womanis on the way and I wouldn't mind seeing a Green Lantern film, but Batman is the best. Great characters, great story and plot, great action and a little suspense and mystery thrown in. Best translation from comic to film to date. Congrats to the filmmakers and writers. God bless you Bob Kane.Read full review...

Would you like to know how I got my scars?

What can I say about this movie that hasn't already been said? It's amazing! That's not why I bought it, though. I'm all but abandoning blu-ray; it's o-ver-ra-ted (clap, clap, clap-clap-clap). Especially when you have a Pornstation 3 with a tinny sound processor, and user-unfriendly control settings. With a slow browser and poor blu-ray support, it's no wonder why it's getting it's big black arse kicked by Mr. Gates and co. So useless are it's media capabilities, that's it's best used for streaming and downloading mp4 format skin flicks, but I digress. I'll be running this bad boy on my laptop which has better resolution than my HDTV anyway. I bought it for like, 6 or 7 bucks with shipping brand new, so I'll take it and just let me say, "thank you sir, can I have another?" Lol!Read full review...

Comics-Hardcore...YES

An imperishable, spectacular and chaotically-brilliant movie. The Dark Knight possesses the essence that should always exist in the handover from comics to the big screen. Sequence after sequence, this is the absolute glory. A great movie that does not give a single frame to breathe. An ode to chaos and anarchy, while shares are confronted inevitably lead to a path dirty, black and hostile. A real Gotham City, dominated by fear.Read full review...
