Doesn't work for New version of PS3

In order to tell if this device will work for your ps3, look at the backside of the ps3. Set it down with the top of the system facing upwards so that you can see "Playstation 3" on the top. If the AV, digital, HDMI, and LAN ports are all exactly next to the power switch and power plug, and the serial umber is all the way to the left, and on the backside of the system still, count the number of rows of vents from top to bottom just on the last column of ventilation holes. If there is 3, and the ports are as i described above, this device is for your ps3.

However, if you have the newer model of the ps3, your device will not meet that criteria, and this intercooler will end up not being able to attach to your system and will end up blocking all of your ports if you try. This is what happened to me.Read full review...

Cuts off air ventilation

I recently purchased an 80 gigabyte Playstation 3, backwards compatible with the Playstation 2. I did my research, and I thought this add on would help with overheating. I was wrong. I actually clean my unit inside and out. It turns out that this product keeps the air ventilation from escaping the unit. While it attempts to cool down the CPU, sadly it only overheats the unit. Stylish design and great performance!

I really love the Nyko Intercooler not only for it's design but for it's performance as well. The five different fan's speed can be controlled via a small silver dial. On the other hand, the housing could be a bit more flushed against the console and for those that don't like to hear extra nosie while playing their PS3 might not find this an attractive buy. Despite those flaws it's worth the buy to help keep your system running a lot cooler and longer. In addition, contrary to form post advising against using such devices for fear of various negative consequences (i.e. violating your manufactuers warranty, destroying your system) the Intercooler does not destroy your system nor will it void your warranty being that it is an external device. Besides, you would never use any aftermarket device on your system, things do BREAK on their own ^_^. As far as Sony is concerned, my system just simply stopped working :) All joking and sarcasm aside, this is a great product that does what it is supposed to do and look good while doing it.Read full review...

A must have for PS3

I was told that the reason that the PS3 has so many problems is due to overheating. I can see why. This intercooler fits perfect and makes it look like it was sold as part of the PS3, not an add-on. You can here the fans run because they are so powerful, but they did not bother me at all. When you put your hand by the big fan on the right side you can feel a tremendous amount of hot air being pumped out. I mean this is really hot air. I can't imagine how hot it would be inside the PS3 if I had not installed the intercooler. Please do yourself a favor and purchase one of these intercoolers. For the price they might save you hundreds of dollars in the future.Read full review...

not so good

I sould of belive people wen they sead it's not that good it's a little noisee but i guees if you're moving air at a fast speed you get some noise but it dosen't realy help the ps3 at all it actually makes it overheate more a'm not a real hard core player but in ten minutes got warmer than it did before i intall it on my ps3 i played before whiout it and it take about hour and a half before the fan kick on the faster speed maibe you like to try somethin diferent before you buy this model somebody may have a beter oneRead full review...

Fan bearings bad from the get!

Do not buy! Clips were missing and the fan bearings howled like a wolf if you turned them up full speed do not purchase was not in description!

NYKO INTERCOOLER CAN BE USED FOR 40 GB PS3

WHAT I LIKE ABOUT THE NYKO INTERCOOLER IS THAT IT HAS A ADJUSTABLE KNOB FOR THE SPEED OF THE FANS. AT FULL POWER, IT'S NOT AS LOUD AS I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE. ALL IN ALL IT'S A GREAT THING TO HAVE TO KEEP YOUR PLAYSTATION COOL. THE ONLY DOWNSIDE I HAD WAS THAT I HAVE THE 40 GIGABYTE PS3 SO, I HAD TO MODIFY IT BY BREAKING THE CLIPS OFF ON THE PART THAT GOES ON THE SIDE. WITH THE CLIPS ON IT WILL NOT FIT CORRECTLY. AFTER BREAKING THEM, I JUST SIMPLY GOT SOME FOIL TAPE AND TAPED THE BOTTOM SIDE. IF YOUR PLAYSTATION IS LYEING DOWN YOU WONT BE ABLE TO TELL THAT IT HAS TAPE. IF IT IS STANDING UP, IT WILL SHOW. disapointing

had trouble with my PS3's fan starting up and kept on going quite loud for as long as the PS3 was on... thought a extra fan could help cooling the machine . the NYKO fan can be adjusted to a speed that makes less noise than the integrated fan, but it doesnt do much good since the intergrated fan starts up anyway... the "hooks" that makes the fan attatch to the PS3 didnt quite fit the holes on the PS3...
when the fan is attatched, you cant shut down the system to a standby mode, cause the fan still runs...you have to fysicaly turn of the system...Read full review...

nyko intercooler for ps3 not that bad of a product

Bought this nyko intercooler for ps3 couple days ago, just got it today in the mail. Good product
And easy to install but the only dislike is that you can have your ps3 on standby and
The fans still runs :-( so u have to to power it down completely. But at least the power switch
Is on the front now so it kinda helps out alittle bit. But over all not that badRead full review...
