This game was for a Wii U. It shows that it is for the regular Wii. I bought this as a gift for my grandson and he cannot use it on his Wii. I sent a message asking to have this game replaced with the one that was in the ad but I have not heard anything in reply to my request and it has been a week. Great Game for Racing Lovers
Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing is not exactly like Mario Kart Wii, but it's pretty close. And if you're looking for another game like Mario Kart Wii, like I was, then this one should please you. The game play is the same, the controls are exactly the same, and many of the items do the same things (cones replace bananas, shoes replace mushrooms, rockets replace shells, etc), though there are a few very different power-ups. Instead of unlocking new levels by winning Grand Prix, you buy them with the miles you accumulate during races. You gain new racers, courses, and music tracks this way (you can change the music track on a course--you're not limited to one song).
The characters are restricted to one vehicle, but they don't drive just karts: you get, among other things, a cabriolet, hovercraft, a motorcycle, a monster truck, and a bunch of bananas. Yes, a monkey drives a banana car! You can also race as any Mii you've designed.
The modes are Grand Prix, single race (8 tracks available at the start with 16 more to purchase), time trials (in which you race for the best lap time, so you can keep going around the track as many times as you want), and mission mode. In MM, you are given a task to complete with a certain racer on a specific track. You might have to hit targets, collect rings, avoid obstacles, win three 2-lap races, or drift a lot. There are 64 missions, which unlock as you complete earlier ones. In single race mode, you can adjust the opponent difficulty, number of laps, types of items, and whether or not you hear a commentator. Thus, you can make it as hard or easy as you want it to be. You can play with friends in multi-player mode.
The tracks themselves are well-rendered, very detailed, and varied in location. For a change, the first track is not a dull, oval-like raceway, but a seaside track with a jumping whale, a loop-de-loop, and two bridges without guardrails. This first track is also the demo, which you can play to get a feel for the game's mechanics. Other courses include a factory, carnival towns, ice worlds, a town and forest haunted by zombies, a roller coaster, and casino-inspired raceways where you drive on a roulette wheel, slots, and a pinball machine. There's a lot of creativity in the details and designs--you may find yourself driving upside-down on a few tracks!
This game is compatible with the Wii remote (with or without the wheel), Wii remote and nunchuk, and the classic controller.

If you like Sega Characters and Mario Kart Wii
It's a fun game and you can buy new characters, stages, soundtracks, etc through accumulating the in-game currency. You get this currency by doing missions (you can repeat completed missions) and winning races.
One unique feature of this game is that each Sega character has their own vehicle or motorcycle and you cannot drive off-course in this game. In Mario Kart Wii, you can often run off the course into lava or the cliff, but here there are ledges and fences to stop you.Read full review...
