The ability to make your own driver, car and track was the biggest draw to this game. If you have or like Little Big Planet (another awesome game) then you will like this one also. I love how you can build your own track & add landscaping, buildings, mountains, houses, lakes whatever to the field beyond the track. There are not enough good things to say about this. I love the game, and so does my 9 year old.

CONS: Takes a while to load, either when starting or changing areas.
If someone is using their Bluetooth, no way to edit their language
(if they curse, it comes over your television)
Problems getting online (to many people for the servers)

If you enjoy MarioKart, then you'll definitely enjoy this!

Great buy if your into those MarioKart games. The main difference I've notice with this game compared to other Rated E/Cartoony racers, Besides the gimmicks of weapons and free customization, is that this game will definitely send a challenge. All players are given endless levels, avatars, vehicles not only by the creators, but from players themselves that can be shared/downloaded online. There would only be one thing that I found a bothersome. I've noticed that it literally took alot of gameplay to get used to the maneuvering. Unlike MarioKart, where anybody can pick up a control, have fun and also get first place, it'll take more than fun to get close to the top. Check your console before giving up.

Downloaded game but kept freezing at 65-67% when it came to first game play. Kept skipping in the intro and didn't know what to do so I looked it up. Found out you can clear dust inside using it's own fan inside and that my ps3 data needed to be rebuilt manually which didn't take 5mns. Gameplay is great and challenging!!Read full review...

Exciting Racing Game with Infinite Customization

This game is like Little Big Planet on Wheels. It truly lives up to it's name where modding is the center piece of attraction. Once you're able to unlock the many items available, you'll come to find that you have all the tools you need to create just about any character out there. The only downside to the game is the load times. It can take some time to load your creations or even the racing in general. Overall, I give this game a solid 8. You can spend hours alone just modifying your character, your kart, and the tracks. It's a game that anyone will enjoy. My 5 year old nephew loves this game and he still can't figure out how I have a Mario and Luigi character in the game. He's now asking for Yoshi, Sonic and others to play with. I guess I'll be busy for awhile trying to create classic video game characters. So if you like to create, customize, or mod things, then you'll love what this game has to offer. Not to mention, the fun racing adventure that you'll also enjoy. I hope they make more games like this. How about ModNation Skiers or ModNation Flyers or ModNation Wrestlers. These will be really cool expansion packs if ever Sony decides to make a sequel or two. Oh Well, only time will tell. In the meantime, go out and buy this game. It should be bargain priced by now. GREAT GAME. Better than Mario Kart.

I've played both Mario Kart and Mod Nation racers. While Mario Kart is a great game and has lots of characters that we all love, what makes Modnation Racers so unique is its customizability.

You can literally create any kind of Kart, Racer or Track. So the replayability is endless!

The game is challenging and fun. The Career mode has a cute story line that is fun to follow and you'll get hooked trying to beat the challenges so you can unlock more goodies for making karts, racers and tracks.

You can of course have a split screen race with your friend at home, but what makes this even better is that you and a friend can take your split screen online and play against other racers. That's a huge selling point for me.

Also, there is the aspect of online xp where your player can advance in the online community. A lot of fun. You can also download other people's tracks, racers and karts! Or, if you are creative, you can share your own!

The weapons and abilities while racing are great. The only thing I wish is that there were more than 5 weapon types. However, these 5 weapon types are AWESOME!

Each type really acts more like 4 weapon types in and of itself! There are three different levels to a weapon type and you can colect the powerups before you use them.

Or you can drop it and leave it behind you like a bomb.

Very good game, nice multiplayer... very difficult

This game is what mario kart should've been since day one... it allows you to create your character, create your car, create your tracks, share it, or download them from other people... there is not limits with this game!

Very entertaining, I play it with my children, and they feel a mario kart like game... with nicer graphics and tons of possibilities.

The downside of this game is... the very high difficulty for story mode... way too high... at some point of the game, you will feel there is not sense in keep trying... you just get tired of trying. This frustrated my kids of the game, and I myself stopped playing it once I reached that point.

They released a patch to reduce the difficulty, but really, there is not much difference... this should be a fun ride, and at some point it is not.

Fun, and great creation mode

A good racing game for the PS3. Just like every kart racing game, it's fun. But the best part of this game is the creation mode. You can create your character, vehicle, and track however you want to in so many different ways. It's what makes this game better than any other racing game. And also the ability to download other people's creation is fun, and there are alot of great creations out there. It's no Crash Team Racing or Mario Kart, but it does live up to a higher level.Read full review...
