MSI ATI Radeon HD4650 1GB PCI-E Video Card

Really a great card for regular media use. Not sure for gaming. This card was an upgrade for my ATI 4350 512mb PCI. Really can't tell that much of a difference in video quality from either card. The 4650 does render color a little better. But this is a great card for an older system that has an older PCI x 16 slot and the main board is running SDRAM where many newer cards will not work. With my system I had to stick with DDR2. Not sure why but my board would not read any ddr3 or higher ram on a video card but it is a really old system and bios. This computer is used as a media center hooked up to a 52 inch flat screen. This video card works nicely with it. I tried a couple of nvidea cards but like the ATI's better for strictly media use. You will need about a 500 watt power supply to run this card. It says 400 min but I'd go at least 450 or more. I'm running a 600 watt which works great. This card also has HDMI, DVI, and VGA. I definitely recommend the DVI to HDMI if hooking up to an older flat screen TV with no DVI port on the TV: excellent quality over VGA. If using a separate sound system you may want to disable the HDMI sound in device settings. So, if you have an older system running SDRAM and it has one of the first PCI x 16 slots, you'll probably have to stay with the ATI 4000 series cards running DDR2 and upgrade your power supply to at least a 500.Read full review...

Very good for the money

Not good for high intensity gaming or editing video but good for everything else, I have extended monitor and works great.
