Logitech Harmony Smart Control 915-000194 with Smartphone App and Simple Remote Logitech Harmony Smart Control

Overall a good product and easy to use. My one request (perhaps I'm an edge case) is to see a mouse control capability integrated into the Harmony remote app. I happen to have a mac which is part of my entertainment system and would like to see capabilities found in an app like Mouse Pro also in the Harmony app. This would eliminate my need to switch between applications on my mobile device when wanting to control the computer remotely (e.g., pause / start / etc. streaming content from my computer).Read full review...

Mixed feelings

First off once this remote is set up it is great, most of the time. Without calling tech support it would have taken forever to program... the instructions provided are not very helpful.
I was very excited to find out that I could get rid of 5 remotes and only use this one so that has made life much easier haha, but unfortunately the remote has reset itself 2 times already. I have had to call tech support to get assistance which has helped it but not a fan of the inconsistent performance.
I also asked to return this item to get a replacement where I was told they would be sending me a shipping label, but have yet to receive it. Hoping that it keeps working.
I would have given this an easy 5 star if there weren't the consistencies in performance. The item is sleek, small enough to not be excessive and with every control needed to run my direct tv, vizio tv, Samsung speaker bar, amazon fire stick and PlayStation 3 for blu-rays.
Over all decent experience. Just hoping that it holds up!!!

Nice universal remote!

Nice remote that covers all of my devices. Easy to use, although the buttons are very sensitive. For most of my devices setup was as easy as telling it what I had. My TV was a little more challenging as it was a model just introduced this year...but using the learn function, I was able to get it all set.

I'm huge fan of the hub that comes with this and the fact that this isn't just an IR remote so line of sight isn't required

Easy to set up and use, perfect replacement for multiple remotes

The best thing that you can do to your home theater setup - fairly easy to set up and use, reprogramming activities, devices and buttons is a snap, and most of all you can control it away from home - perfect for elderly parents and grandparents who keep calling you with questions :-) Oh, and it works even with the most obscure pieces of equipment!Read full review...

It only good for Home theater

It works great if you want to just program entertainment equipment. It found every piece of equipment I had it its database and programmed it's remote actions very easily. Placement is touchy if anything remotely (no pun intended) blocks the IR sensor it wont respond.

I figured I throw a IR remote for the air conditioner on it but if you turn it on it turned everything else off thinking you can only do one "entertainment" activity at a time. It's also only limited to 8 items. Additional items under smarthome you will need additional hubs and equipment for so its really no benefit. For the money I don't think I'd buy another. There are cheaper options that now work with echo that i'm experimenting with that have unlimited capabilities and work well with IR and RF.

When Technologies Collide...

A smart way to control dumb devices, but if you are trying to control multiple smart devices, forget it. It will probably work with multiple IR-controlled devices, but it didn’t work well at all with my mix of IR and RF-controlled devices. Didn’t help that my new Samsung TV wasn’t in it’s programming database. Also, it took hours to get the Alexa skill to activate. Not really sure how I ever got it activated, since I tried so many different ways to get it to work. Even then, voice command never worked right. And I never did get it to work with my Fire Stick. Installation is not as intuitive as Logitech would have you believe, and without any real instructions or help, you are pretty much left to your own to figure out how to make a complicated system function. It was a TOTAL, frustrating waste of time and money. I used an old Harmony system years ago, and it was amazing. Nowadays, there are too many competing and conflicting protocols and technologies for the Harmony hub devices to work the way they advertise. Forget it unless you have just a couple of devices and a simple setup.Read full review...

Great to control all your equipment but...

The unit works well controlling the basic functions of all the components in your system but lacks the ability to control features within each component. My old Harmony 600 series would allow me to select different audio settings in my AV unit for instance. Otherwise a good unit with great battery life compared with the old unit.Read full review...

Love it

I for a long time refused to try the Harmony line, but after getting an Amazon Echo, I realized that it might be just the thing — especially when I found a great price on eBay.

What's to love: the hub. I put it on an end table next to my sofa. It's able to see and control all my devices this way. The instructions want you to put it by your media devices, but due to the shelves, I thought that would be less effective.

The activities. Take some time to set these up, they're the key.

The remote itself: It is nice and slim, but should have at least 4 activity buttons, and skip forward/back should NOT be merged into the FF/Rewind buttons (you need to hold them down to activate skip). I reprogrammed those features onto two nearby "color" buttons, but now I have fewer places to set up custom sequences. Also the number keys are too small too close together.

Potential pitfall: it took a little tweaking to get the AT&T cable box to not miss keys when it is dialing in a full channel number. There are settings for this, and after a bit of googling I found the answer on some forums. If you have this type of problem, contact Logitech support or search the forums, the setting is called repeat, I think.

Customization potential: I was really happy that since my cable box has a caption toggle now, I was able to reprogram my mute button to send "mute" to my sound bar, AND send the caption toggle to my cable box, for captions on mute! I haven't had this feature for years, but loved it back in the SDTV days.

Really nice remote. Surprisingly so.

I'm a long time Logitech user, and this is their first lower-cost remote I've had good luck with. The system I have consists of a Samsung TV and blu-ray player, a Bose soundbar, and a Roku stick. I also set it up to work with all of my smart home stuff. It was quite easy to program, and the handheld remote is small but has good weight and sturdy buttons that make a satisfying click. So far, so good. Recommended for fairly simple setups.Read full review...

great remote system

The good: I love that this uses wifi so the remote doesn't have to be pointed at the device. The base can be placed where it will always have line of sight to the devices it controls. I also love that you can use your smart phone as a remote.

The bad: I like the small lightweight remote and it is all you need most of the time but it has limits. You can't directly access individual devices, so if you want to keep watching a game on TV while temporarily switching your AV receiver to radio to check the score of a different game, you'll have to use your phone app. The other minor annoyance with the small remote is that the skip/fast forward buttons are at the top close to the activity buttons. Several times I have meant to go back to replay live or recorded TV but hit the music button instead so the TV turns off and music plays or when I want to skip a commercial I hit the movie button and the DVD turns on. But that is not a deal breaker, just make sure your finger is on the correct button.

Unfortunately I believe this remote has been discontinued and replaced by a much more expensive one that has a larger remote with a viewing screen. That's why I bought a second of these units on Ebay.
