Great value, great price.

I like that it is really easy to use after a minute or two after reading the instructions manual. It is extremely portable and the built in USB port is great. It also has really good battery life which lasts a long time. The only con that I can think of is that there is no backlight for the screen. Site needs upgraded

When I purchased these cameras I thought the power supplies and cables came with them......This is what have thought by looking at the pictures......MY SUGGESTION WOULD BE THAT YOU CAPITOLIZE AND HIGHLIGHT the place where it shows that the power wires and cables DO NOT GO WITH THEM.....That way other people that has the same problem as I do about reading can understand of what is being sold......

So whom is reading this, this is being copied from purchaser of the four camera that has a had hard time reading and writing......So maybe the pictures are great, but you should not have ones in there does not apply to sales.....

RCA VR5220 - A bargin for the money

This small Stereo Digital Voice Recorder (VR5220pc) is a much better unit than most in this price range.

The recorder has many excellent features not expected at such a low price. Includes quality stereo wave (.wav) format in (HQ) voice record, better voice/background noise separation, and also stereo *playback of .wav music files, for a lower price than the similar digital recorders such as the Olympus VN-4100pc.

The RCA’s logical multifunction buttons are very easy to use once each button's features are learned. Easy to learn.

The built in USB connector (no cable required) is a super feature also not on the similar Olympus version. The unit is recognized as an external flash drive with read/write capabilities.

Some not very useful pc software is factory stored on the device. Seems the software does not convert/index PC .wav music files for playback on the recorder, however music can be recorded through the external stereo record jack and quality stereo music will then also play on the recorder. I place these music files in a separate folder from temporary voice recordings.

The speaker is on the front and presents better sound quality but using stereo earphones provide quality music playback.

When the unit is off the current time is displayed in large format.

I own both the Olympus and also the RCA recorders mentioned in this review but prefer the RCA for quality stereo music 'line-in' recordings on the spot.

Great product, great price!

The RCA VR5220 is extremely easy to use. I looked all throughout eBay and even retail and found other digital voice recorders at upwards of $100.

Those models didn't even have the built-in USB attachment, which is a huge selling point for this recorder. Just record your audio and plug it into the USB and you can transfer the audio automatically. No messing with cables, or having to record in real time.

The quality of recording is also great: you can either set it to dictation for close interviews, or conference which picks up 360 audio.

rca digital voice recorder

Its small. It runs on AAA batteries, so I can just get rechargeable batteries for it. It has a direct retractable USB hookup, so no cords that I need to have at all times to transfer the files onto my mac.
The screen is a nice size and the font is legible. There is an on/off switch for the recorder so it doesn't waste battery always being in record/play mode. It can be locked so it isn't accidentally turned on in a backpack.
It picks up sound well in conference HQ mode, which produces the file in .wav. It recorded clearly everything my professor stated today in summer class.
If you have a mac just get a .wav to .mp3 converter like All2MP3 which you can get from cnet.com. Cnet.com provides free and purchaseable downloads of programs with reviews on the products and with spyware scans on all downloadable programs whether free or not.

I was expecting something a little easier to use. It works fine but it's difficult to use at night when I'm trying to record book ideas and thoughts.

Great EVP's with this recorder.

Use this for paranormal investigations have caught many EVP's. I noticed that one person said you need a manual to walk you through, Nope you really dont comes with the software I also use AVS audio editor for looking at in detail. Digital Voice Recorder

I bought the handheld Digital Voice Recorder because a friend of mine and I go ghost hunting! I grew up in a haunted house and it just so happens that she did too. We have decided to investigate the house I grew up in; we had a very interesting time, but I believe there was too many other people around to record anything paranormal.
I do like the recorder, however I wish there was a tape to record on instead of just having 200 hours of record time.
