Good game.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, despite being the weakest entry in the Modern Warfare series, is still a good game and a great way to end the series before being rebooted in the upcoming 2019 reboot. I'm glad to own this game, especially when it comes with the codes for the DLC Collection 1.Read full review...

Not The Best CoD, but it's playable

I've played most of the Call of Duty series from CoD 1 up to Black Ops 2( have not played Ghost or Advanced warfare).
as far as MW3 goes it's not that much different than MW2 different story line, different weapons. same basic game play, same graphics.

Pros: it's close to MW2 as far as game play. the graphics are OK (not great)

Cons: MUST download UPDATES before you can play(1 time thing, that has happened twice), the update can take several hours. for online multiplaying you need a play station account(and it requires UPDATING)
if you have several accounts on your PS3 then each account(person) needs a PS account or the game will list the player as guest and will not save for guest.

Other Thoughts: the graphics are better on a PC, the controls are better on a PC. but if you are used to playing on a PS3 or X-Box then this shouldn't be a problem for you.

one more thought: I haven't played online multiplay on this game for the PS3, but if it's anything like the PC version, I wouldn't want to play multiplayer. when you go into a server the network PICKS a server for you(you don't get to choose), you may end up in a server that has all MAXED-OUT level players while you are still at lower levels. when you exit a room you don't like and re-enter the lobby to join a different room most of the time you are put back in the room you just left.
also you can NOT create your own PUBLIC room( you could on WaW and CoD4).

So as good as Uncharted 3?, Predictable yes, but COD has always satisfied

Well of course next year was going to be something new, it is after all a treyarch(or whoever the hell is working on it now out of like 5 studios) year. So that means digging into he past, or if they're really daring, future, for the game. I would like to see it get a low score just to see it, but of course it won't, and I don't agree logically that it should just to get it; but come on, the reason isn't purely hate mongering on what is popular. Sometimes I feel activision owes all the fans, not me, better, and I say they don't deliver since we can use the exact same words and phrases detailing nearly every inch of MW3(cod8) as we could cod4.

Just because it's good doesn't mean people should be paying for the game again and again and again. You can still level in cod4, prestige, pick out perks. That game needed 1 or 2 iterations to get everything right, not 10. Roster updates don't deserve retail price, and that's almost all this is now.

You can't screw it up when you can literally copy/paste 85% of the multi-player and when all they do with the singleplayer is make the reins tighter and add more scripting to it. Activision has seemingly finally found the franchise that people don't mind if it never changes, after many tries, as long as you keep plopping it on their plate, they'll keep eating; it's disgusting for all involved at some point.

Sometimes it's good to see games awarded 7's or 8's out of 10 (assuming the game being reviewed genuinely is a 7 or 8 out of 10 game). With so much publisher pressure around these days it's hard to know what scores are genuine and what scores have been 'influenced' shall we say.

At least when a AAA game receives an 8/10 you know the integrity of the reviewing party is upheld, and hasn't bowed to any demands.

I always hated that about the game and I can't believe they still haven't fixed it in 2011. Still, they've at least made the story comprehensible this time round, although I really wish they'd stop with the character swapping as it simply does not work in a first-person game at all IMO and if it's done for controversy and nothing else then, really, what is the point? It just serves to cheapen the whole experience, I think.

Otherwise, this seems like a good review with a score that is as predictable as the game itself. This'll be the first game I won't be buying though, simply because I found the games started getting boring after the first Modern Warfare with Infinity Ward playing it too safe and not evolving the genre at all (respawning enemies being a good case in point). Great for the fans I guess but I'll look for my first-person shooter thrills elsewhere, thank you very much.

Good review, glad i didnt cancel my order. BF3 is a great online game but it seems CoD has managed to do its version of online well this year too. BF fanboys (that infest this site), on your marks. . . . Get set. . . . . Go! Neg neg neg.

Glad to see some of you already have. Why can't you people accept that CoD is still a good game in its own right? If BF became the unstoppable monster that CoD has become would you all start hating that instead? Seriously get outside for some fresh air.

Just the same as The first one and the second one noting new.

As soon as I Poped the disc in I thought i was playing Mw2, They barely made any changes at all whats so ever.

The menu is the same as Mw2 just with different images, The muliplayer has not changed at barley just new kill streaks and about a few new guns.

The worst part is they added a kill streak called support, So even if you suck and your a horrible player you still get the best kill streaks, Such as EMP's Juggernauts, Escort Airdrops.

Which is fine and all but, But its just over used and brings down the how should I say.... Quality of online play.

Overall the new survival mode is pretty good just a copy of zombies but with a modern Ware fare twist.

Good more story mode and relaxing. But BF3 takes a squat over this game.

I give this game 3 stars. And it would be 4 is the series never had CoD4.

The story mode is good and the co-op is nice and difficult. But the survival mode is a complete ripoff from the zombie mode in Black Ops, right down to the types of enemies in it. An example being a chemical fighter that blows up into green gas when he dies, being an exact rip from the gollums in black ops.

But the multiplayer is where this game really fails. Much like MW2 and unlike CoD4 it does not require skill to play. If you set yourself an overpowered class and camp corners you dont even have to try at all to do good.

Some of you may like the sound of that. But there are other things that drag it down. For one, the guns are being nerfed so much in these games now that all of the weapons end up being pretty much the same with with very little of the variety you found in CoD4. And the biggest issue is the new "feature" added into the game called Lag Compensation which literally gives a huge advantage to people with terrible internet connections. And you can search youtube for more details on that.

One of the top best Call of Duty games!

Not only did Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 pick up where Modern Warfare 2 left of but it created memorable moments that you experienced with your family and/or friends. This game has a great conclusion to the Modern Warfare Storyline, introduced a brand new mode to Special Ops along with new special ops missions and created a vast and diverse multiplayer experience for everyone to enjoy at times. Definitely worth playing!Read full review...

"GAME OF THE YEAR"

The single player story for Modern Warfare 3 is absolutely stunning. Infinity Ward has kept true to their style of game development by once again making sure you never leave first person view. I enjoy cinematic scenes, but the level of intensity that you get throughout the campaign whilst always being in first person view is great. Modern Warfare 3 is a direct sequel to Call of Duty 7: Modern Warfare 2, and picks up right where Call of Duty 7 left off. Modern Warfare 3 adds a lot more to the campaign than Infinity Ward’s last title, including graphics as well as unique missions that you should definitely experience for yourself. The graphics in Modern Warfare 3 are the best I have seen so far in a Call of Duty game while keeping it smooth with a constant 60 frames per second. The detail of the environments and the character models are beautiful. Some of the scenes throughout the campaign are really breathtaking as they are action packed, and keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time. To add to that, there are many surprises and twists throughout the game that no one will see coming, making this story an amazing action packed thriller. Although the campaign is amazing, it was fairly brief, lasting around 6-8 hours depending on the difficulty. And speaking of difficulty, I would add that the game was a lot easier on Veteran than any of the other Call of Duty games.
Now for the good stuff; multiplayer. Multiplayer for Call of Duty 5 is mostly what made it so popular and in Modern Warfare 3 it gets even better. The addition of many killstreaks and having the ability to customize which ones you want ,with a max of 3 available at once, is where this game’s multiplayer action really differs from Call of Duty 5. Even in objective modes like Search and Destroy, you can gain killstreaks throughout the course of many rounds, granted you don’t die at the end of the round. And if you try using you stealth class from Call of Duty 7 or World at War in this game you might not be safe with the addition of Heartbeat sensors as an attachment to certain weapons which detect movement. Of course there is a perk to counter that though. Many perks from Call of Duty 7 have been made into attachments or equipment. There are many additions to the game that will really let you personalize your class to your liking, much more so than the previous Call of Duty games. I saw a lot of people running around with many different class setups instead of seeing everyone with the same 5 as in the other games. You can now unlock titles and emblems for yourself that show up in game. Modern Warfare 3 has added more modes as well.

Built for an aggressive online player.

This game is one of the best first person shooters out there! The online experience is a never ending barrage of multileveled players all competing for a certain goal. Some will become valued allies and some mortal enemies. An extremely fast paced game! The campaign part of the game is pretty awesome as well. Although a little short, will keep you interested till its over. All in all I give this game 4 out of 5 stars. The reason its not a full blown 5 star game is the campaign, they could have put as much effort into it as the did the online experience, then it would have been a game of the year!Read full review...

Best cod game yet.

Hackers are getting thick, and pretty much everyone uses mods or modded controllers. But the game itself is still awesome. It's the players that bring the game down from cheating so if you want to play you ether have to cheat, or be damn good. Having said that, I don't run mods, or hack, and my controller is a $20 used one I bought on here and I still play with no problems. Don't be a scumbag mod running cheater ppl.Read full review...

My Favorite COD

Love the game play on this. By far in my opinion, the best COD game in the series. Love the different game modes, including Drop Zone, Infected, Kill Confirmed. It's worth every penny in my opinion and I will never stop playing this one. The Cod games after this one except Black Op 2, are pretty much horrid. If you like what Cod was about before the running on the walls, flying garbage, this is the game to play. Best by far!Read full review...
