A very good movie in an unusual setting--

Although an unlikely protagonist, Melanie Griffith does a great job playing an undercover cop in this movie about Hasidic Jews in New York City. As part of an investigation into murder and jewelry theft, Griffith plays cousin Emily, a newcomer to the family jewelry business. As she investigates the crime, she also becomes more and more embedded within the elusive culture. The depictions of Hasidic rituals are beautiful and interesting, although I don't know much about their credibility--I don't know how accurate they are supposed to be. However, much like the movie Witness, the movie is enlightening to us regular folk who are unfamiliar with different religious cultures.

There is a plot twist and chemistry between Emily and one of the men in the film (strictly forbidden), but it actually seems believable most of the time. The movie is engrossing, if a bit corny and predictable at times. You won't be disappointed!Read full review...

I love Melanie Griffith ,as much as her mother Tippi Hedren (Marnie, The Birds) ! Melanie gives a great performance as a woman detective ! Who helps solve a murder !
