Great performance for the cost.

This is a powerful CPU for the price. It works great with my RTX 2080 Super with no bottlenecks at all. Temperatures are good and it doesn’t get too hot under load. My last processor was an Intel Core i7 6700 and at the time was $289. I snagged this Ryzen processor for $169 and it is about 40% faster than my old Intel while consuming the same energy. Very good value and performance.

Only con is the socket does not hold the CPU very well. The first time i took this CPU out of my motherboard, the thermal paste had adhered it to the cooler. This cause the CPU to rip right out of the socket as I was attempting to take off the cooler and 3-4 of the pins bent and it would not go back in the socket.

Luckily, I was able to bend the pins back with a small screwdriver and very gentle force. Just beware of switching motherboards or CPU coolers. I would stay away from any pre-applied thermal pastes.

Excellent Upgrade!

I bought this CPU wondering if it was going to be an upgrade over my Intel I5 6600K. I can honestly say it is. In a number of newer game titles my old processor was running at 100% cpu usage and causing stuttering in those games. Overclocking the processor did help in those titles however it was still not enough. After I upgraded to this processor the performance in those games increased substantially. My cPU usage went from 100% down to around 50% to 60%. Even in regular desktop usage things are a lot snappier. If you are on the fence about getting this processor to replace an older Intel I5 processor I would highly recommend you do so if you have the funds.Read full review...

Workhorse at sane costs

It is hard to beat this processor for the cost. I have two machines with the R5-3600 (B450 and B550) and they do not disappoint. Both do well, one in a reclaimed SFF case and the other in a tower rig. Both run cool, within a couple degrees of each other. Both benchmark very high, top 10% of machines regardless of processor/board combo. On day to day tasks they keep up with my R5-5600X B550 machine. My 5600X spends most of the time switched off in favor of the SFF 3600, even though the graphics are vastly different (but 80fps at ultra is still good for my gaming!).Read full review...

Huge upgrade from 1st Gen Ryzen

Great upgrade from a Ryzen 5 1400. With that chip i was getting severe audio cut-out issues while playing games. With this new chip those are gone, and there also appears to be a overall speed-up in system performance. Highly recommend for roughly $130 on the second hand market if you are still running 1st Gen Ryzen.Read full review...

Great CPU/Cooler combo!!!

I am glad to see that AMD updated the 3600 and included a larger fan. This SKU comes with the Wraith Spire cooler instead of the Stealth. Kudos to AMD! My processor is now very quick and very cool!!!Read full review...

Excellent CPU - very fast and reliable.

12 Cores, usually runs at 4GHz. This is a very fast processor and is able to haddle 100's of simultaneous threads.

It was a little tricky setting up the configuration to run Windows 11, but I finally got it all figured out, and it works great.Read full review...

Great Processor, Good Price

I have formally used Intel in my system, and after building a Ryzen System for my Nephew, I decided to swap my Processor out. The Ryzen 5 3600 performed much better in benchmarks then the I5 9600K. I recieved the item exactly as described, and I've been running it for months with no issues.Read full review...

solid workhorse of a cpu. not enthusiast grade, but good

I bought a used ryzen 3600. After watching some reviews, the 3600 is supposed to be equally capable as the more expensive 3600x. I tried to give the cpu a mild overclock to match the 3600x (on paper), and i was able to get it there. I was also able to give the infinity fabric a mild overclock to 1700 to pair with 3400mhz ram. This was less of an overclock than expected. Paired with a 280mm radiator, I keep the cpu in the low-mid 80's under full load - which is a bit higher temps than i would have expected. However, after getting the OC just right (took about an hour of fiddling around), this CPU has been tremendously stable, and a solid performer. Its neat that my cpu came with a ryzen 7 5800 stickerRead full review...

Great Entry Level CPU

If you can get this Ryzen 5 3600 @ $100 or less and pair with a $60-$80 motherboard b450 or x470 motherboard, then you have a really great platform to build from. It will provide what's needed to figure out your specific use and needs. From there, you can look at upgrades or switching to an intel platforms.

Currently, Ryzen 5 5600 (non x) are going for @ $130 on New. If that's the case, it's definitely worth the extra $30. You'll want to pair that with at least a b550 or x570 board, if you can get one of them in the $80 to $100 range.

I've paired this CPU with lots of different GPUs, like the 580 4GB/8GB, 1060 6GB, 1650 4GB, 1660 Super 4GB, 1070 8GB.

The 5700xt @ $180 would be great. If looking new, the best for price and performance at the moment, is the 6600 @ $230.

Prices are based on USD current market trends at the time of leaving this review of the product and are very likely to change as new products are released into the market. Hopefully, this helps someone looking to put a build together or wanting to get into building a PC.

Most Recently Build Ryzen 5 3600/1070 8GB.

Excellent CPU for a budget build

Excellent CPU for a budget build. It performs really well. I upgraded from an Intel i7 5820k overclocked at 4.2ghz. I have a similar overclock on the Ryzen 5 3600 and it outperforms the Intel one at a lower power usage. I have a Noctua cooler on it and it is very stable. I love it so far. I am looking forward to trying it on Linux to see how it performs.

I highly recommend this if you don't want to spend too much on a CPU. I was initially thinking about getting Ryzen 7 3700, but it put me over my budget a bit. I didn't want to spend too much money. With an overclock, 3600 performs at the same level as 3600x.
