Good CPU for AM3 upgrade

Great upgrade for my AM3 system that will be repurposed for full time rendering. Performs well with AIO water cooler. There were some conflicting info in the description, one place mentions fan and heatsink included and later it say OEM tray. There is no fan/heatsink but you can get a nice aftermarket solution like Hyper 212 or something and it will perform well.Read full review...

the last upgrade for my old AM3-system

This CPU was the best option as a final upgrade of my system; Asus M4A785TD-M evo in an Antec nsk-1380. I was considering the highest spec 95W TDP processor, which is the 1065t. However the BIOS/FW didn't comply so the 1055t was the second best and final choice. Due to limited space in the Antec-chassis I picked-up another oldie; the Big Shuriken from Scythe :)

It performs well together with a MSI GTX1050ti (low profile) .. 3dmark/skydiver yields ~5600 (CPU/physics-tests)

Phenom II X6 1055T (95W) was a simple drop-in replacement for my Athlon II X3 435

This was a great way to literally double the speed of my very old Windows 10 PC. I had noticed the user interface starting to lag a bit with my Athlon II X3 435, and things like activating a software menu would cause video playback to lag briefly. It wasn't the end of the world, but it was annoying nonetheless.

Putting in the Phenom II X6 1055T eliminated those lags, and added pep overall to the UI. Before with the Athlon II X3 it was actually fairly decent, but now it's noticeably better. Plus, the chip auto down clocks to 800 MHz when idle without my having to turn on AMD's Cool'n'Quiet in the BIOS. CnQ caused me problems with certain software, but the 1055T's version that is integral to the CPU works better and doesn't cause those performance problems. Furthermore my machine still runs quiet, and I suspect actually runs cooler than before (because of the lower core voltage and the auto down clocking to 800 MHz).

It was a literally just a drop in CPU replacement for my machine. Be aware though that my BIOS already supported 6-core CPUs. Some motherboards won't support this CPU, or will support it but only after a BIOS update. I specifically chose this version of the 1055T with the 95 Watt TDP because that's the same TDP as my old CPU. Many of the 1055T chips out there for sale are the 125 Watt version. Not only does that version use more power, it is also less compatible with many motherboards because of the higher TDP.

1055t x6 2.8 ,is here to stay until I can,t play or build anymore forever!!

I build computers as a hobby, and this fits the bill just right, for me,because it is a 6 true core processor it handles the weight all on it,s own even against the Fx 8350 which I have the 1055t still out shines the 8 core in a lot of task that I put it through.Though the benchmarks on the Fx 8350 are higher eye to eye on most regular task it still to me a dream come true on the 1055t.Of course the Fx 8350 is with the new instruction set.I say it is a Quad Hyper threading, when The 1055t is treated right is a Beast for mega tasking. They change things a lot on the web to support the newer processors. But for old school like me the 1055t is here to stay until I can,t play or build no more.Thank You!!!!!!Read full review...

Great upgrade for older motherboards

I had an older dual core 3.1ghz AMD processor in an older motherboard from 2009 that I use as a server for house computing. Recently, I started backing up videos discs and doing some transcoding of files. The computer struggled processing a single HD movie in under 6 hours with average fps around 6 or 7. I switched out the processer with this one and saw a 3-4 x improvement in speed. No regrets.Read full review...

Processor works perfectly and is a nice incremental system improvement.

I upgraded my 5 year old HP desktop from an Athlon II X4 635 to this processor. It was an incredibly easy process; just release the heatsink and fan, unlock the old processor, apply heat transfer paste to new processor and install. Took 5 minutes and didn't require any mods to bios, hardware or software. It nicely improved system performance but what really changed things was adding an SSD previously. This just made things crisp and smooth.Read full review...

Awesome CPU

I got this CPU as an upgrade to my motherboard. Unfortunately for me my motherboard died, but the replacement board is now my weakest link. I have yet to use more than 30% of the 6 cores on this cpu. I am very satisfied with this CPURead full review...

Always Easy

Always easy to setup. The 1055T processor has a locked multiplier so you need to overclock it using frequency and voltages. Other items must be changed in the Bios or UEFI, it is easy. This processor is able to run reliably at 4ghz. It is a winner!!!Read full review...

CPU upgrade at a great price

The product came packaged properly and head worked well for several month, very satisfied with purchase.

Arrived super quick and no issues!

I was concerned about buying a used CPU but it arrived faster then expected and worked perfectly. A very cost efficient upgrade for an older computer.
