About time AOR got it right
This is my second DV10. The first one was returned to HRO for being deaf on vhf, failed to decode P25 and DMR.
This new one imported from Japan works perfectly on P25, DMR and D-star. I do not have other digital mode users to test remaining modes. Firmware was 2203A, a very recent release for Japanese radios.
Drift on the HF band was undetectable on WWV at 10 MHz for 30 minutes. There was no noticeable drift correction as was found in early units.
The radio feels substantial in my hand, like a commercial unit. Battery life could be better, the supplied 2200 mah battery is good for about 6 hours.
Free DV1 Control Software from Wayne Taylor works surprisingly well with the DV10.
While the price is still excessive this is the only game in town for a multi-mode digital receiver. It could be improved by trunk following but I don’t see AOR moving in that direction. This radio is sold as a communications receiver, not a scanner. It is a keeper for me. Read full review...
