Save your old hard drive's data with this handy enclosure.
After replacing an old computer, I wanted to extract its hard drive for use by the new one to preserve a lot of important data. The new computer has an ultra-small form factor and will not accommodate a 3.5" drive internally. This SATA Hard Drive Enclosure was the perfect solution to the problem. Another good product
This one has a simple metal shell with screws to hold the HD in place. Also has a direct plugin between the faceplate and the drive. External power supply AC/DC converter is much clumsier than the Protronix, which has the AC/DC converter integral with the AC plug. Dropped a 2 gig hard drive in it and it works.
I do not care for the mini-DIN power connector, never have but this one is only 12 inches log away from the transformer. For the price I can't complain but you may want to know this info. The USB cable that comes with it is about 14 inches long. I'm just glad this works for my application. The back of the case shows a roundish vent in the center, however there is no fan. There is an off/on switch right on the case, not on the power cable like some. If I knew all this before buying, would I buy it anyway? Yes.Read full review...

I bought the version of this product that comes with a PS2 round heavy duty six pin power supply cord attached to a power brick with a removable 120volt grounded cord. . It is 3,0 not 2.0 and not seemingly interchangeable with any other power cords. I highly recommend this particular drive. I cannot vouch for the others with a smaller 12 volt single cord 120volt power source. I have used it for transferring drive files for many hours with no overheating.Read full review...

Works good, only one problem
The adapter works fine the only part that I had a problem with is the USB cable that came with it. It would cause it to randomly disconnect, switched out the USB cable and now everything works fine.
