Punish the Wicked! Slay Without Mercy!!

Did you like ActRaiser??! You will not like ActRaiser 2! Not unless you understand that this is not at all like ActRaiser. Then, and only then, will you absolutely LOOOOVE this game!!

This game has a few similar elements to ActRaiser. Religious themes, the story, the censorship, the sound effects, and the styles.

There are some major differences.

They are as follows:
This is a lot more difficult. Every level has its challenges. To play this game effectively, you need to learn how to jump. ( Probably at least three hours needs to be spent on that alone. ) The magic is awesome, the levels are superb, the bosses are, impossible when you first play them. This game, when mastered, feels like no other. But good luck mastering the magic. That takes a lot more time than learning to jump! BUT YOU CAN GET SOME< SATIS FACTION!! (You have to fight rolling stones)

Without two things: Patience and Attention. You will have a miserable time. Play this game with the levels you play, especially DILIGENCE level one.

Beat it

A Rare fail for Enix & Quintet

For those who know and love Enix & Quintet like myself it's a must have to a SNES collection. However it's not for playing. 5 mins in and you'll see it sucks. Your sprite is big and bulky, moves slow, gets hit easy. Has a double jump that forces you fly that's hard to stop so you'll walk into an enemy. Lots of one hit deaths and monsters that take too long to kill. If you into playing get the first one and skip this. If your into Enix & Quintet get all the others, but this one, unless your into enjoying frustrating, rage quitting types.Read full review...

Every bit as good as the first game

As the title says, this game is every bit as good as it's predecessor, however it goes just a little bit farther by making the story a more prevalent aspect of the game.

And what a story there is to be told; parodying one of the greatest stories of Christian biblical lore, Paradise Lost, involving you, as the returning God character from the first game fighting against a rebelled deciphal and his minions. The same combined gameplay of action-strategy-role playing have returned, although the strategy element of building civilizations (in this case rebuilding) has been downplayed and made slightly easier in way of giving more light to the side scrolling action aspect of the series.

Even so, the game is still great fun; with bright, colorful graphics, excellent, orchestral sounding music, awesome action, role playing, strategic gameplay, and the always grand aspect of playing God and fighting the allegory for Satan and the Seven Deadly Sins. That alone is so fantastic it outweighs damn near anything else.

ActRaiser 2- Not the same as the first...

The best thing about the first Actraiser was the fact you could do action and simulation. In Actraiser 2, it's only action, and it's really hard to play. The first game was relativly easy, with a few small things to really test your skills, in the second... well... I can't get by the first level, I'd love to see someone actually do it so I can give them a standing ovation... IT'S TOO HARD! If you liked the first one, then don't leave a sour taste in your mouth by getting this one. Actraiser was one of the best games ever released, with possibly the best soundtrack to date, and the second one was just... eh. There's a reason Nintendo didn't put this one on the Virtual Console for the Wii, it's cause it sucked. Buy the first, and play it over and over again...Read full review...

Actraiser 2 Side Scroll Ninja Gaiden Style Godliness

I loved this game because of the game play, graphics, and story. The game does not save on the cart, uses passwords (unlike the first one) which is a huge bonus if you plan on returning to this title. The graphics are much better than the first Actraiser. It's a long, hard game that takes skill and patience. You get lives, but if you die you just start over where you left off. There are many boss battles that are really awesome. You get different powers to defeat your enemies. You look like Hercules with a shield (that comes in handy) and a big sword. To sum this game up in 1 line: It's a side scrolling Zelda on steroids. I bought this game because it was rare and very hard to find. It's much better than the first one!Read full review...

Not as Good as the Original

In Actraser 1 you had the ability to have the epic side scrolling adventure combined with the ability to act as a 'God' to create and watch over your town as it grew. The latter aspect has been removed in Actraiser 2 still leaving an incredibly interesting and solid game-however it lacks what the first game have.

I would suggest playing the original first as it is one of the classics (and definitely a must have on the SNES)-then venture into this one if you want more of the side scrolling action!

One of the top 10 SNES games

I played this game when I was a kid, and playing it again now I can understand how I lost so many hours of my life into this game. It's strange, because when you first start playing this game it seems like a hack-and-slash like most others. But within 30 minutes you're hooked into the storyline and the playability of the game.

You receive so many different abilities throughout the game, and each one of the 7 deadly sins that you fight requires a completely different tactic to defeat. You're never bored, unlike most hack n' slash types.

As the review title suggests, this game remains on my list of must-have's from my childhood. If you have never played this one, I highly recommend trying it out.

this game is very hard and also very fun!

this game is incredible. it is not really like the first game in that that create your town and world aspect is gone which is why i bought it. it is a strictly side scrolling, hack and slash with pretty good graphics for the time and an extreme level of difficulty. learning down slashes, flying and patience in learning boss patterns is key.Read full review...
