A good addition to your PS2 (infantry) war games

If you like infantry play alone , without the usual array of controllable vehicles , you will like this game. Surprisingly the storyline is a little dated , as are the graphics & AI : even though it has authentic gameplay action.

Since this is a single player game (with no ability for online play) , with 2nd rate (but adequate) graphics , I have to give this game 7+ out of 10 as a rating. Due to the fact that some games are disappointing in the PS2 realm , I can say that it is worth playing by comparison to other similar FPS war games. There is a certain amount of noticable AI "unintelligence".

Overall , the game is quite interesting , in that you simply can't just blast your way through it with stealthy weaponry & cunning abilities. The game requires you to pay close attention to detail and the storyline to reach your objectives beyond what you might expect. With what appear to be slightly limited (PS2) graphics it can be noticed as a drawback of quality.

On the positive side this game is like a prequel to Medal Of Honor's "AIRBORNE" , and in fact bears the exact same (diamond & wings) symbol that is used in AIRBORNE as a logo of sorts. While this is not an EA title , it somehow tends to compete or resemble EA - AIRBORNE as a sort of rough copy. The gameplay is similar.

The graphics & AI quality shortcomings are boosted by the storyline and gameplay requirements , so much so , that you will find many instances where you simply can't reach your intended objectives , and must replay the level until you do. While gameplay may seem a bit corny at times , it does have quite a bit of authenticity and interesting levels - less things like sound & AI authenticity.

By far , this is not a game that will be put on the shelf and forgotten as it offers a different approach to FPS gameplay. Being that it bears the diamond & wings logo , I would say it had alot to do with how the EA AIRBORNE title was formed. So if you like infantry FPS games - I would suggest this game just for the fun of it.

With online play available , this game could rate as high as a 9 of 10 because it has alot of potential for playability. The title - Countdown to D-Day is accurate to how the game actually plays , with no real incouragement to speed your way through it to get to the end.

It's a very interesting experience to find such a game that resembles EA AIRBORNE without question. You won't be disappointed after you buy it , knowing it has more than just a case to store it in - even though it is not a top notch / online title.

Ok - memory card problems

For some reason, the game would not recognize the memory card. So I bought a brand new memory card, other game use that card, but again this game would not, so now I have to play the game for awhile just to get back to the point where I left off.Read full review...

Great Game/PS2 Sniper Elite

I Like everything about this game. One of the best games I ever played. The graphics are the greatest. I have played most of the Call of Duty games, but I must say this game will keep me guessing on what to expect on the next mission.Read full review...
