Great for improving sound quality from factory radio

I was finally able to install this after a few months of having it. It does have better sound quality than the factory head unit. I also replaced the door speakers with quality ones to match the sound. I was able to set the gains and stuff it under my dash. I also purchased a harness side wire harness, and a stereo side wire harness to solder the inputs and outputs to. I also grounded the amp to the head unit and the chassis. My only beef with this unit is that the bass doesn't hit as hard as I would have liked from adding 180 watts to my stereo system. This is why i took away 1 star. This is not the seller's fault at all, just my pickiness. All in all, I'm happy with this as I'm not looking to make noise going down the road, just hear my music with better quality. There is no alternator whine, and it does what it's supposed to do. Read full review...

alpine ktp-445u

This is a nice little amp. Not bad but perhaps too few watts for my liking. I connected it to the rca outputs on my new jvc head unit but it doesn't seem to have more usable power than the head unit. I am not an audio expert but I have been playing guitar in bands for about 40 years. Thanks Read full review...

Compact and good power

Very good price brand new, and very versatile. Small enough to hide inside your dash. These are a solid state unit so not much to go wrong with these so don't be afraid to purchase one of these used as well - long as it has both wire harnesses its supposed to come with. 45 watts RMS per channel may not seem like a big power number, but it is a world of difference on a factory radio (without external amp already) or even any aftermarket head unit, most of which you're probably lucky to get 10 watts RMS per channel with. Has no problem reproducing low tones for your door speakers, and even for a low price class D amp it can do the highs clearly as well.
It's made to plug completely into all your factory speaker outputs and power/ground wires, has four-channel input so you don't lose your fader at the head unit. Another useful feature is its low pass crossover that can be set at several frequencies - useful for if you're still using factory door speakers, and/or have an added subwoofer system.

Perfect fit for my s197 2005 ford mustang coupe

Installed this little guy behind my new single DIN mechless pioneer deck. Since i have the shaker 500 system and am still using the shaker subs, i opted to use the Pioneer RCA's for the factory subs and use the line level inputs to feed the Alpine powering the 4 full range speakers. The pioneer head unit was loud enough to begin with but adding the Alpine made everything so much louder and clearer. The Alpine does get a bit warm when in use but its negligible. I have the gain set at 25% and there's no need to go higher. All in all i am happy with my setup and would use the amp again. Install was pretty easy and straightforward. When i swap the shaker subs i will reconnect the RCA jacks to the alpine to see if there is any improvement in sound.Read full review...

Is better than the Alpine head units 18w RMS x 4. Bass is more controlled and hits harder.

It was a nice Plug and Play and way too much wiring to try and put somewhere. Had to put wireloom on all of it for protection against the sharp edges of Civic dash braces.

For my 2002 Civic LX sedan it would have fit better behind my accessory plug panel if it was a little shorter.
I cut some 1/4" rubber pieces to put on the right and left side to protect the wires coming out of the amp from those sharp edges of the braces.

It will only fit with the label facing outward(or 180 inward) since that is the thinnest dimension or the accessory plug will hit when installing that panel.

Great for what it is

My previous car audio setup before adding this was alright but not great I could hit about 14 on the head unit (new alpine one) with brand new speakers before major distortion started to occur. After adding this it boosted the sound level at lower volumes as well as allows me to reach a higher level of sound before the distortion occurs. It is also great in that at least in my vehicle it can hide behind the head unit and not have to worry about running any wiring. Read full review...

Great Amplifier

The small 4 channel amp is powerful enough to satisfy your audio desires. I paired the amp with two pairs of 4-way Pioneer 6x8 speakers. I’m able to turn the volume up a lot louder, now that I have the amp. Previously, the sound would distort at about 60% max volume. Now, I can turn the radio all the way up and it just sounds better!Read full review...

Great Amp

I have two of these KTP 445's. For those who don't want to install a huge amp that takes up space, or don't care for the boom boom of a big bass, but want more power to your speakers this is the best thing going. However if you do want a thumping bass, and have a single channel amp, you can still use this to add power to your smaller speakers as well and leave your bigger amp for your bass. I personally have 6x9 and 6.5 speakers in my Corvette and my Pick Up, and this little jewel makes my system sound great without having to turn up the volume and creating distortion. Keep in mind this will not give you the power of a large amp, it will clean up your highs and lows and push the sound out in an organized manner for listening to songs. You won't be thumping to them, but you will be listening. There's a huge difference. It also allows you not to have to run wires all over the place as it is truly a plug and play system. I feel these will only become more popular as the big boom craze starts to fizzle, as it already has began. The prices are way too much, and people are beginning to realize it's expensive to install them, and when they trade cars it's an expense all over again. Not so with the KTP 445. They're easy to install and easy to uninstall. Like I said, I have two of these and as long as they make them I will look for this if I'm looking to boost my system.Read full review...

A truly amazing amplifier from Alpine!

A great amp. Just read any of the many pro reviews online and you'll find that nobody has anything bad to say about this amp. It's a marvelous piece of engineering. It's bridgeable to 90 RMS x 2. It's extremely efficient so it won't over work a vehicles electrical or charging system. It's compact in size and doesn't generate much heat. It's very clean with impressive numbers all around. If you're buying something cheaper...you're certainly getting something cheaper. If cheaper is what you're trying to achieve, then good luck. For those of you that can recognize a winner...here's your champ!Read full review...

Awesome product! Great value for the money!

Bought this product as I custom installed 2 speakers in the cargo area of my SUV. I ran the amp at 90w x 2 and they sound really clean. I already have a Alpine PDX-V9 running my 4 doors and sub. This just complemented that perfectly with very little space needed.

In my case, it was very much plug and play as I just connected to the power and ground on the PDX-V9 and just used y-adapters to send signals to both amps for my rear doors and cargo area speakers. It may take a little more work if you are running it off the factory head unit but if you are just looking for just a little more you will be satisfied.

Highly recommended, super easy installation. Great value!

This is a fantastic unit from alpine, they have recently released another unit ktp-445u which can be used with most any head unit too.

I replaced the speakers in my explorer with some cheap sony speakers which were 45w RMS, most head units including my new alpine MAX out at 45w-52w. That's where this plug and play amp comes in. This unit pushes 45w RMS on each channel.

More power allows higher volumes without distorion and more accurate sound as well. It is very easy to install, but this model is limited to alpine head units only (without modification).
