Brought back memories!
Being dirt poor for a while it took us several months to save up for Vol. 1. We loved it so much that when Vol. 2 came out we saved some more and grabbed it...that was over 30 years ago. After several moves, I lost them and one day thought I would check ebay and see if they were around...Didn't take a second thought to by all 3! Thank you for the memories ebay, I needed them this year.Read full review...

Overrated & a disappointment....
Well.. disappointed is all i can say for this book. And the other two in this set. Not wanting to take up anymore of your time than necessary, i'll say this. I thought these books were from the Amish/Mennonite community. There not. There from some restaurant in Amish country and have Amish people working in it. These recipes are from both said restaurant and the workers. The recipes are best described as cheap convenience foods through together. And that's about it. Bottom line.. save your money and look for the real Amish recipes online. Read full review...

The one cookbook that will take up residence in your kitchen and heart!
I have used this series for 26+ years and they have never failed me. The recipes are so easy to follow and use the most basic of ingredients. Everything I have made from this one cookbook has been gobbled down in no time. The flavor is in yesterdays kitchens, and that is why I recommend it to anyone who wishes to take their kitchen back in time and learn not only the basics, but wants to please the palates of it's recipients.Read full review...
Love this cookbook!
Love these little cookbooks. The spiral binding is very helpful to put it on the counter while cooking. The recipes are good ones for a family and most use ingredients that people usually have on hand. I have 4 of the books in this series and I love them. I will say though that some recipes do require a little common sense in cooking. For a first time cook I could see some problems as far as dish sizes and knowing when the food is done. It is a great little cookbook for experienced home cooks. Great cookbook!Read full review...
